So I came up with this fun little DA gun line list a while back and I'm wondering what dakka thinks of it. I'm also wondering if the new vanilla marine dex can do it better. Thoughts?

I can't remember the point costs for the dreads off the top of my head but I think that this list was 2500pts. The strategy is have the Librarians take prescience and group up with the Devastator squads. The Techmarines give bonus cover to ruins the Devastators hide in, then hide behind Dreads. The dreads line up behind the Aegis line. Have a unit of Devastators in the Aegis line with the quad gun.

I'd keep it in DA, they do static gunlines much better than vanilla marines imo.

And that's 2000 exactly, you should be able to modify it quite easily at 2500, but imo once you go up past 4 Tacticals w/ Libbies, it gets quite crowded behind the Aegis.

Very interesting list. I assume you keep the Libbys spaced out far enough to give the entire gunline the invuln? Have you had any real trouble keeping the vehicles alive?

I want to like vehicles in this edition but it seems so easy to wipe them off the board.

Anybody have any thoughts? I was thinking about dropping the command squad to add some Flakk missiles.

If your going to be running that many marines, the Salvo Banner would be more useful than the Flakk IMO. The 4 tl autocannons should be good enough to deal with most flyers. If your opponent is running twin Space Chickens (Heldrakes), then theres not much hope with that many clumped up tacs, so make the most of the bolters!

Well hopefully, if they're in range, the pfg can grant some of those marines an invuln save. As far as the Flakk missiles go, perhaps I was attempting to over compensate for the DA rather poor AA.

I actually ran a full dev squad w/ flakk missiles and a libby w/pfg at a recent tournament, and it was one of my best units of the day. I think the one change I would make to my list, now that I own 1, would be to switch out the land speeder with an aegis line w/ quad gun.
Just a warning though, tau can be a brutal match up for you since they will, if that is all, have better ranges with their base weapons (30"). And a Fateweaver/screamerstar/FMC list, that gets the best powers/rewards, that gets up and running will give you fits.

Fortunately there is only 1 dedicated Daemon player here, and he's overseas for a while. As for Tau, they would have the range advantage. How could I compensate to try and deal with them or other gunline armies?
