Utilizing Careful Highlighting
Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!
|
So today the president of Finland's Roleplaying- and Miniature games assigned me (being a member) to host a 40k tournament, and I being stupid, lent my friend my rulebook and he haan't returned it. I've only played one game of 6th ed. so I'm not overly confident on coming up with customs scenarios. The idea is to have 5 games of 1250 or 1500pts games, and every scenario should be unique in it's own way (for example added special rules for the random factor).
I would appreciate anything from vague ideas to fully detailed scenarios.
Thank you in advance!

Could always go with Bay Area Open scenarios, they do well to balance out the bad factors in the book missions while working within a pretty known framework, i.e. uses 2 of the book missions together with secondary points.

Could you send me a link of these Bay Area Open scenarios?

ansacs suggestion is good, though you might also consider the default missions. They generally have a lot more interesting things going on than the missions in 5th did, and I find they are quite enjoyable and balanced. My ideal 40k tournament would be one using the standard missions, that way everyone is on top of their game and nobody feels shafted by potentially one-sided custom rules.

Hi, scenarios should be variations of the types in the rulebook with some added fun. With that being said you don't want to go to far, which may unbalance the game to favor a certain type of army list
Example of one we made for our last event:
High Tension: Battlelines have been drawn and your force has not recieved orders in weeks and neither has the enemy. Insults from the enemy have been hard to swallow and there is movement in the enemy line. Tension is high and your angry, time to settle the score.
Pitched battle
Primary Objective: Kill Points
(at this point it is a standard mission, now add a twist)
Secondary Objectives: Remove the serpents head
+ 3 Kill Points if your Warlord is able to personally kill your opponents warlord in close combat.
+ 1 if you ordered anyone else to do the job
This is in addition to Slay the warlord
this is a balanced scenrio that still allows a non CC warlord to gain a extra +1 KP and a CC warlord +3 KP if he can get into CC

While I agree that said mission would probably be fine as far as tournament missions go, isn't giving a potential edge to only CC warlord armies the opposite of a "balanced scenrio"?
