So I have finally finished all the infantry (for now...) I need for my Vostroyan Imperial Guard Army. I'm patterning them after the Vostroyan 5th Firstborn Regiment, Commanded by Lord Marshal Graf Harazahn, noting their army name "The Victors".
( Citation: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Notable_Vostroyan_Firstborn_Regiments#.UkyWkD_SJgg )
I will begin by saying I have a itsy-bitsy bit of cleanup to do on some of the bases edges, so please overlook any grey smudges on the bases edging, as I'm going to be finishing the clean up once I finish posting this. All Images are viewable in my Gallery:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/core/gallery-user.jsp?u=3687
Also, I apologize if the pictures are sub-par. I don't have a light box or good camera at present and am having to make due with what I have. Hopefully the details (good and bad!) can be seen in the images. Critiques are welcomed as is constructive criticism.
With that, let's get started!
Firstly, an overview of the entire infantry force (Tanks are currently being painted/assembled, more to come on that soon.)
Next, we have Lord Marshal Graf Harazahn and his command squad, consisting of the Company Standard, a Voxcaster toting veteran, a pair of snipers, as well as a master of the fleet and an astropath (Master of the fleet has the backpack w/ antennae). I will be painting up a better astropath model and using the astropath depicted as a Master of Ordinance down the road, so all three can be represented if I choose to run all three.
Second, I have a Vostroyan Commissar I'm particularly happy with. This was the last model painted to complete the army as shown, though I forgot to put this figure on the shelf when I took the whole-army picture.
Next we have a Veteran Squad sporting three plasma guns and a Veteran Sergeant with his trusty plasma pistol.
After that, a Psyker Battle Squad and Overseer (I particularly like how the Overseer came out.)
Last but not least, we have the Infantry Platoon, which consists of a Platoon Command Squad, 2 Infantry Squads, and 2 Special Weapon Squads (Note the Demo Charge on the back of the front center guardsman in both squads, particularly happy with how it turned out)
(Bad picture there, sorry, but hopefully you can make out decent detail on the squad)
That's everything so far. I'll add tanks and what-not as I finish them and will take an over-all army shot once I have everything completed and ready to go!
Thanks in advance for any critiques, comments, and constructive feedback. I'm not the best painter in the world but I'm very proud of how this army has shaped up. Once I finish off the vehicles (2 chimeras, 2 griffons, a Leman Russ, and a pair of Vendetta Gunships) I'll be ready to rock.
For now, take it easy everyone.

Nice. though there is a lack of hats in your psyker squad
Also you should give that overseer a cape and call him bison

Hats make it harder for the overseer to execute them though. Not as easy to get a clean head-shot with that bolt pistol with that big furry hat in the way.
Also: I thought of that on the overseer! Sadly my green-stuff-fu is weak.
I totally call him Bison when I'm fielding the squad though. "Ooops... Perils of the warp.. Let's see how many Bison kills..."
Thanks for the feedback Desubot. Much appreciated.

Any other feedback? I'd like to know what I can do to improve my abilities, and will be adding more posts soon once I finish the first Chimera up (sitting at approximately 75% complete at present.)
Thanks in advance for any thoughts, and critiques.

Thanks Insane I appreciate you saying that. It's my first attempt at really weathering and making it look 'well used' at present. Did a lot of looking at different tutorials to get the desired effect.
I'm almost done with the second chimera. Just have the metallic colors (Bronze and boltgun) and weathering to do and the tank will be completed. I hope to have it finished by this weekend.
Will put pictures up when it's finished.
Thanks again Insane

Thank you EmperorsChosen! I appreciate the encouragement!
Chimera 2 is taking me longer than I'd like to finish, just have had a lot of extra things on my plate over the last week and a half or so and my modeling A.D.D. has kicked in. Rather than painting on the Chimera as much as I should and finishing it, I started modeling up some Deathwatch Marines instead. Got them as finished as I can and am about to start working on finally getting the Chimera finished up shortly I hope. Should have some pictures of it up soon once I finish off the metalics, do final touchups, and weather it (That's all that's left to do on it, honestly).
After that, we'll see what I decide to do next. Probably go ahead and knock out my first Griffon Mortar Tank, but I might go ahead and knock out a Vendetta gunship... not sure yet. (Chices, choices).
See you guys soon, take it easy and thanks for the kind words once again, they're always much appreciated.

Great stuff! Always like the metal Vostroyans.
Cool idea to name your tanks, gives a bit more flavour to them.
Regarding the painting;I am someone who also paints table-top standard and I think your Impies look great! The lighting on the infantry is abit off though but the weathering on the tanks is excellent!
My Grots would ofcourse eat your army alive, but painting-wise keep it up

Thank you Low_K
Yea, the lighting on my infantry leaves something to be desired. I hope to get better army-wide shots soon once I finish off the last few vehicles I've yet to complete (Nearly finished with the first Leman Russ now, see WIP in my gallery if you're interested)
I'm going for 'above average' tabletop standard with this force. This is going to be a regularly fielded army and while I love the idea of a fully 'master class' painted army, I can't realistically paint an army to that standard. At least not at my current skill level. I'll be continuing to improve as I can and try new techniques as I work up the courage to do so, but that will be my next project once I finish off all my I.G. models.
What I still have left to paint:
Two Leman Russ chassis
Two Valkyrie/Vendetta flyers
One Hellhound/DevilDog
~Twenty infanty models of various types (Mortar squads, lascannon heavy weapon team, misc special weapon models, medics, and lasgunners/voxcaster minis, as well as at least one more sergeant of the powerfist/laspistol variety).
My goal is to have the current Leman Russ finished in the coming days, and to then get cracking on my first Valkyrie/Vendetta and in theory have it finished by mid February. At that point, I'll try and knock out a few more infantry models and possibly get started on my second Valkyrie/Vendetta while I wait on the new I.G. codex to drop and see what else is coming down the pipe.
Time will tell, as they say. Time will tell.
More to come soon, and I'll see you guys in the near future on here.
Take it easy,

The 5th Vostroyan Firstborn Regiment continues to grow
Allow me to introduce the latest addition, fresh off the assembly line/Painting table.
'The Duke'.
Thanks for looking everyone. More updates to come in the coming weeks. About to get cracking on my next Leman Russ chassis, a magnetized (and modular) Punisher/Demolisher/Executioner pattern.
For now, take it easy and have a great one!
