So the only person I'm playing games with to practice is using Space Wolves. I'm trying to build an effective list. He's not using any flyers so that opens up more points since I don't need to buy the systems that are needed against flyers. I see most people saying Hammerheads with railguns are pretty bad and that you should use Skyrays instead. Since my opponent doesn't use flyers though, I'll be fine with my Railheads right? I have pie plates with my Riptides. I have the Skyray turrets still incase I do go play at a store or tournament and need anti-flyer.

Hammerheads are great, fire warriors too. Crisis suits with plasma rifles are very good imo as well.

You need IONHEADS against those pesky wolves. Attach a Multi Spectrum Sensor suite commander to your Riptide and watch the Wolves fall as they are denied cover saves from the AP2 pie plate

Keep the one railhead with longstrike to take out his razorbacks or anything else he brings. Longstrikes hammerhead takes out one vehicle a turn 9/10 times for me.

Fire warriors behind an aegis line work wonders. Markerlights to keep up your bs on the little fellers. I like combining ethereal and cadre fireblade for overhelming firepower from the lil guys too. I like using the icarus lascannon just in case someone decides to drop pod a dreadnaught on me.

One-two squads of suits with plasma/rocket pods works excellent for me. I can kill his termies and pop drop pods no problem with it. A melta in one of the squads helps in case of a landraider or a dreadnaught parking in front of you or behind you if some positioning goes wrong or you make a mistake.

Just remember, interceptor does more than allow you to shoot at flyers. Anything coming out of reserves. Drop Pods, Scouts, etc. All those things could be potential interceptor targets.

There is nothing that helps you win games more than killing models on your opponents turn.

I have the following models:

Farsight
Shadowsun
Commander
Cadre Fireblade
Darkstrider
36 (12 unbuilt) Firewarriors
10 Pathfinders
3 Riptides (2 with Ion, 1 with HBC)
10 Crisis Suits (3 double Fusion, 3 double Plasma, 3 double Missile Pods, 1 Buffsuit)
2 Hammerheads (1 built as Railhead, other is unbuilt, deciding what to use as)
Bunch of Gun, Marker, and Shield drones

My opponent doesn't use any drop pods or scouts but he sometimes brings his wolf riders in from reserve. He's using a much older army with a few newer units. He usually does have a land raider and a razorback though.

Even though I have 2 Iontides, an Ionhead would still be better than adding another Railhead?

What do you mean it's built as a Railhead? Did they actually glue the easily swappable weapon mounts in place?

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

No, the turret is not glued, I just haven't built the Ion turret or Skyray turret yet. I can definitely change both of my hammerheads config

Just curious.

With all the models you have available it's actually hard to narrow down. You have pretty much everything except Kroot, Piranha, and Ethereals and in large enough quantaties.

There are are many lists you could run that would be set up at TAC lists that work well against SW, but I guess it's more of a matter or personal preference.

With Railheads, they can often be disappointing. Against vehicles you'll be counting all the times you roll 1 to hit, to pen, or on the damage chart. With the submunition you'll be counting all the times it scatters off target or all the saves your opponent makes.
I like either version of hammerhead and with the amount of damage a well supported Riptide gets, there is easily room for either in a list. In an 1850 list I bring two riptides and alternate between the two tanks, also switching the secondary weapon on the Riptide.

For sure, understood! I have been thinking ab out picking up some Kroot recently. I really don't like them personally (not because of their use in a game, more aesthetic-wise) but they seem like really great objective takers.

Is Fusion Blasters the way to go for secondary on an Iontide? I noticed people recommend that mostly. I did notice though on some of the tourny armies that they all used SMS though.

my choice is more dependant on what else I'm bringing. If I have Ionheads and plasma suits in my list I'll throw in the melta on Riptides to supplement my other anti-armor. If my list has Railheads and fusion suits, then the Riptide will be fitted with plasma rifles. Though honestly I haven't used the SMS on the Riptide yet since I have access to SMS through Broadsides and hammerheads. It's more along how you play and what you think you'll need, since the Riptide is capable of doing a number or roles.

As for the Kroot I think they're invaluable assets. Their deployment versatility and sniper weaponry make them incredibly versatile and a 5 point upgrade to give them outflank rerolls really boosts their ability. For 145 points you get 21W, 20 BS3 sniper rounds that can infiltrate or outflank with acute senses. Though I know people would recommend the Firewarriors because 4+ and S5 weapons.

Kroot won't last a turn in the open with their crap morale and even crappier armor.

Your best use is employing them as a pillbox unit that sits tight and snipes. You can abuse their cheap points cost by allowing them to make use of a good cover save and have them last longer that way.

As for what to put on a Riptide, yes, the new Fusion Blaster is 18", but I still think that an SMS is a nice combination of range and volume of shots and you anyway have the Ion Accelerator to level MEQ/TEQ infantry

I've been only seeing Kroot in most of the latest competitive lists, I think they are just flanking and grabbing objectives late game with them
