Hey, I play tau. I've based my army off the tau on the cover of cities of death. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1092256 Now i know that tau change their armor in different situations, so my question is should i paint my flyers to match my army or a more of a space themed look as they theoretically would be in space more than in the air.

I'd usually paint it as the regular scheme. Just looks better that way, and so people aren't confused to why your flyers aren't a different color.

Do you want to paint your fliers the same as the rest of your army? Given that 40k forces can be made up from a number of different force elements, or in the case of the Tau, different Cadres, there is fluff support for whatever you want to do.

The flier could be organic to your main force, it cold be from a different cadre but using the same general colour scheme because its in the smae theater of combat, it could be from the same cadre and painted differently because its an aerospace asset rather than a ground asset, or it could be from a different cadre and painted differently because of a number of reasons. In my view you should never try to use fluff as a concrete reason to do anything. Paint your models the colour you like and then come up wth the fluff to support it

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

See now what i had in mind was instead of white and red cast colours id paint them black and red cast colours, showing that they would be in high atmospheres only coming in game to preform strafing runs, so they wouldn't need to adapt the colour to the ground forces
