Hey Dakka user, just a fun little thread for you. I'm sure most of you have heard of guardsmen Marbo, hell, to some of you that name could instill fear. To those that don't know he is basically a demo pack that came come in anywhere on the board. Anyway on with the question. What are your guys best and worst experiences involving this one trick pony. I'll start, he came on hit a group of ultras only the have them pass about 6 out of 8 6+cover saves.

Played against an IG list for the first time with my 4th BT codex. Had no idea what I should do, or what he could do. Anyway At some point Marbo comes in close to my CML TDAs. He decides to blow them up first saving his blob FRFSRF for a squad of TH/SS coming close to his lines. He scatters so far from my Tactical terminators and ends up hitting his blob squad, taking out a decent chunk of guardsmen. We both laughed so hard on what happened.

Ive had him come up against me and kill 3 TS + Ahriman, before being blasted into about a billion pieces by what was left in that squad

I have had his demo charge fully scatter back onto himself. Most of the time he does kill something, it is really the "fear" that he causes to your opponent that you're paying for though.

He is like the Spanish Inquisition, his greatest weapons are fear and surprise.

Had him kill an ENTIRE squad of death company with his demo pack, then he managed to survive, then be assaulted by the librarian leading them. He managed to get lucky enough to avoid attacks, hit and run out, then shot the librarian to pieces. Needless to say when i play against that BA player with my IG he will throw anything and everything he has at marbo, including investing in intercept upgrades he dosent need. I would like to say that the damage is done!

In my last doubles tournament, Marbo thought he could come in on top of my partners' Blood Angels Scouts camping on the Relic and dropped his charge on the same place. Scouts got out unharmed, Marbo killed himself with his own bomb.

So, yeah. Hail Marbo.

I met Marbo once. I squished him with the Avatar of Khaine.

I hate marbo... He was even on my team in an apocalypse game and he still made my life miserable.
In my apocalypse game (8v8, 2000pts each), Im running a tau hammerline and this little 12 year old twerp on my team brings marbo in from the other teams rear, and lobs a vortex grenade onto a trio of land raiders. Kills terminus ultra, and a regular raider with calgar and his honour guard. For some reason, he doesn't die the next shooting phase, runs behind a stompa that I was planning on shooting (I had it down to 2 structure points from the previous turn, and 8 railheads aimed at it), and declares that he is going to det-pack it. I tell him I am shooting at it, and he whines to the GM (his dad...great), and gets to throw his det pack first, KIILL STEALING MY STOMPA with a chain reaction explosion (oh, and the 20 ork boyz and a very surprised ghazgul who failed all his saves)

I hate marbo.

Placemarbo on first floor of building.

Deploy demoocharge against enemy deathwing in the open near the building.

Scatter back into building onto opponent's belial and deathwing command squad.

Realise to opponent's chagrin the building was not area terrain and they did not have cover from marbo's position.

No stormshields in squad. Squad cannot FNP the demo charge.

Goodbye, entire squad.

I still lost though...

Ah, Marbo. For when a deathstar just isn't good enough...

Best: This would have to be a game against BA where he deploys and kills an entire 10-man assault squad and attached librarian (over 300 points, for those keeping score), and then proceeds to use his pistol the next turn (the enemy were too busy shooting up my vets) and precision shots a Sanguinary priest, killing him and removing FNP from a squad. He then only died to a shot on overwatch as he ran in to finish the squad.

Honourable mentions: passing 2 6+ cover saves from a Dark Reaper Exarch, preventing him from shooting something more valuable, and the many, many times he has popped up and demo charged a Tau Crisis commander and bodyguard, usually netting over 300 points worth of kills.

Worst: Marbo has a worst? I thought that was just when he thought it was fair to let the other lads have a chance.
