Hey everyone,

I took at a stab at a 2000pt assaulty GK list and would appreciate any C&C.

HQ
Coteaz
Ordo Xenos Inquisitor (rides with Purifiers)
Power armor
Rad Grenades
Psyker 1 (Hammerhand)
Psychotroke

Elite
Techmarine (rides with DCA's and Crusaders)
Psychotroke
Rad Grenades
Force Staff
Servo-Harness
Purifiers x10
Hammer x2
Halbred x5
Force Staff
Incinerator x2

Troops
Henchman Warband
Death Cultists x8
Crusader x4
Henchman Warband
Warrior Acolyte x12
Storm bolters x12
Henchman Warband
Warrior Acolyte x12
Storm bolters x12
Henchman Warband
Warrior Acolyte x12

Fast
Stormraven Gunship
Hurricane Bolters
Psybolt ammo

Heavy
Land Raider Crusader
Psybolt Ammo
Searchlight
Dreadknight
Personal Teleporter
Heavy Incinerator
Dreadknight
Personal Teleporter
Heavy Incinerator

The idea is to have the purifiers with the Ordo Xenos inquisitor in the storm raven and assault in, preferably targetting hordes to get into assault. The rad grenades and psychotroke to weaken the enemy unit while force staff tanks as much as he can. Using cleansing flame to quickly take out hordes.

The DCAs, Crusaders, and techmarine would ride in the LRC, pushing to get into assault as well. I would use the crusaders to soak for the DCAs with their 3+ invuln save. Again, rad and psykotrokes here.

Dreadknights support and take out vehicles in CC if needed.

Coteaz and the Warrior acolytes sit on objectives in cover with prescience shooting anything that gets close.

Any thoughts?

few things to consider

1) I am not a fan of Psycotroke grenades.

I do not want to rely on getting a specific random effect in order to win a combat. I want to be sure of the effects I am getting before I commit to a charge

You should not loose many combats when you have Rad Grenades + Divination re-rolls of Hammerhand. Personally I feel that the Psychtroke grenades are overkill and just not needed.

2) I would drop the force stave on your techmarine

His job is to hide in the back of the unit and buff them with Hamerhand and Rad grenades

REFUSE ALL CHALLENGES. You want him safe where he can buff stuff. He is only one wound. He is only Ld8 so you are not even losing out on Ld by refusing a challenge

The henchmen can still make use of ATSKNF even if he refuses a challenge.

3) more crusaders

Overwatch is a thing. I would go for at least 5 crusaders.

5-6 DCA is usually more than enough to massacre any unit they charge. You want as much durability as you can get.

4) Drop the incinerators on your purifier unit

You have cleaning flame to deal with hordes, you do not need extra horde killing power

You DO NOT want to shoot before you assault. You do not want to kill the models in the front of the unit and get out of assault range. You do not want to kill so many models the enemy unit falls back out of assault range and get stranded and take a ton of enemy fire.

5) Consider an Aegis line or Jokaero for your backfield units

This would give them a bit more reach, especially the unit with Coteaz re-rolls.

Well, its a semi-assault army. Two assault vehicles plus two DKs.
Anyway, I'd mount the Warbands into transports, Chimerae or Psybacks.

Psykotrope is just too good to pass up for it's points. You never should depend on it, but it's a great plan B when prescience goes 11+ on a psychic check, a rune priest squashes it, fiends are disruptive song, or shadow of the warp messes up your plans. Also there is no such thing as too careful when fighting another beat stick cc unit.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.
