Hey all,

I am using a Landraider carrying Terminators in my list, and now I am wondering what type to run in 6th now.

Assault Terminators (5)- 3x Thunderhammer / Shield - 2x Lightning Claws or
Tact. Terminators (5) - Heavy Flamer - 2x Chainfist - Stormbolters

Landraider - Lascannon Sponsoons or
Landraider Crusader - Hurricane Bolter Sponsoons

Altough I like the 3++ on the Assault Termies, I also like the firepower from the Tact. Termies.

Maybe you can help me with some tactics and/or advice on this matter.

I have gone for broke and am using TH/SS termies with Corbulo in a Stormraven.

I only use "Tactical" Termies when running as Deathwing or Imperial Fists, maybe when I don't have a delivery system (Stormraven or Land Raider) also...

Tactical Termies don't need a Landraider. They are better used on foot able to fire each turn.
At the weekend, we had a Apo battle and I fielded three Landraiders each of which used as transport for 10 Assault Marines. These guys rocked and with furious charge took out two units of 10 (slightly decimated) Hammer Termies.

TH/SS Termies are absolutely the best choice - I'd fit them in a Redeemer or Crusader to put the wind up any big mobs that might be nearby, or the squad could get stuck for ages swatting away beyond their number of Attacks. However you could consider a lascannon Raider if there's a vehicle or two that absolutely *must* die.

As stated, taking Tactical Termies, you don't really need a Land Raider as you want them out and firing. If you're only taking 5, I'd go TH/SS every time. But if you leave the Raider, you can afford 10 Tacticals...

Heresy! That's 3 KP in one basket (or SR) as the case may be. The only guy who should be in a SR in Mephiston, and even tha I rarely do.

Not with a 3++ its not. Assault termis and mephiston can reliably run in a raven.

2 seperate ravens obviously.

Ravens make for poor assault transports IMO. They have great guns, so they really want to fly around shooting things, they have to start in reserve, so delivery of the assault troops probably happens in turn 3+. They are also really bad for their passengers when they die, with the S10 AP2 hits.

Land raiders are now even better transports, you can guarantee a 4+ coversave or LOS-blocking terrain with fortifications or a 4++ invulerable save through allies, they can flat-out and there is less melta around.

I would go TH & SS termies. Corbulo is a must to soak firepower. Normal land raider if you are not using the extra transport cap, redeemer over crusader if you are using the transport cap.

I think a land raider heavy BA army might be one of the few viable (probably not GT-winning) ways of playing BA in addition to the stormraven spam-list.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying (apart from the vindi with outflanking baal flamer spam also works against many opponents) but just wondering how you can guarentee that 4+ without allies? A mid table agis gets in the way of a tank advance so what else is there?

While I don't have a lot of 6th ed experience, I will disagree somewhat with 'shooty termies must foot slog'.

I used to run Black Templars with a squad of shooty termies with two heavy flamers. It was a great unit to pour out of a land raider crusader with. All of that shooting and flaming followed up a with a charge pretty much killed everything, and usually two units. Expensive, but it never met a unit it couldn't tackle in the end.

You lack the invul save of a SS, but you will soften the unit up with SBs and a Heavy Flamer quite well before rushing in (generally meaning you don't need so many great saves).

On time, on target, or the next one's free

Thanks for your insights guys, I do own 2 Stormraven's but I only transport Dreadnought in them sometimes as I mostly use them as Gunships. I am leaning towards the Crusader with Tact. Termies, but I might also for the same point cost put 10 DC in it.

It is always nice to discuss this kind of idea out here.

It's not really *good* to transport in the Stormraven, but when it works it's pretty funny. Allying with the new marine codex makes this more feasible.

10 foot dc is always nice to unload in an enemies face. 2 powerfists for a unit the cost of the landraider and you're laughing!

I endorse this option!
