In relative terms I could look at the "Top Threads" section but I'm not really interested in some kind of internet pissing contest... I am however, curious how many people actually subscribe to the blog.

Bueller? Bueller??

I asked once back in the dizay and there is no way for us to see that data. Lego said it is approximately the same number of people that post in the thread in question but I think that's slightly questionable.

And how does one find THAT out? Hmmmm??

Just got me thinking... I have a simple "show and tell" blog over on B&C and the subscriber # for your blog is right there in the upper right-hand corner of the page. I guess it's telling that none of the mods or admin have responded to this question.

Thanks Casey.

You've just got to get an idea with who regularly replies to your blog.

That said, I originally brought it up becuase I was asking for that data to be made available. If more people want it then it might be a feasible addition. Then again Lego might be planning to add it when he adds more functions to the exalt feature.

The lack of replies has more to do with the fact that this sub forum is pretty slow most of the time. Plus someone who saw my reply, like a MOD with the same information, would be unlikely to just repeat what had already been said. Lego will get to this eventually but he's very busy so he does this forum in bursts.

I guess I'm wondering if the can't make it available or won't make it available due to some unspoken problem they think might arise. I guess your's is option #3... can't because Lego's simply too busy.

I don't think estimating # of respondents is a good way to estimate readership or subscritptions. Too many people read without responding, especially often enough to be noticed. My little B&C blog as 26 subscribers but really only 3-5 people make most of the comments... with about double that having made much of any comment at all.

It is a pretty close approximation as to who actually 'subscribes' which is why it is not shown as a distinct number. People dont tend to use the 'subscribe' button, and generally just bookmark threads on their browser/linking device of choice,

An average thread has a few commenters (subscribers in the traditional sense), a load of registered readers, and a huge number of unregistered/guest readers. I can see how many distinct registered users have read a thread, but the query is a bit too intensive to run on demand, and it is still only a fraction of the individual people that would read a thread as unregistered to registered is a huge ratio. I choose not to show the numbers as it would be discouraging and an unfair representation of active readership - active readership being too variable to define in a consistent manner across different threads.
