So I don't have the "fluffy" rule book, so this might eplain my question. I am looking at my mini rule book, and my weapon profiles for my chaos army, and have come across the type. I am looking at these types and I can't find them in the mini rule book. Can some one explain to me what the types mean? (Found on pg 105, in the chaos codex) thanks.

Is that Chaos Daemons or Chaos Space Marines.

I only have the iBook version of the Codex, so a page number tells me nothing sadly, which weapon is it?

There should be a page which lets you know what the different types of weapons do. From what I'm reading here you are telling me you own both the main rule book in mini format and also the codex for the army. The weapon type descriptions should be in the mini rule book under weapons somewhere.

CSM. really all the weapons, I know what rapid fire, twin linked, and sky fire is. But armourbane, unwieldy, concussive, force, all the heavies and assaults, etc. I have no idea what they mean. And I really can't find them in the mini rule book either.

Check under the special rules section. You will find them all there.

They're in the Special rules secion.
Page 30 something I think, in the main rulebook.
Or just use the index at the back (one of the best additions they made!).

Armourbane, Unwieldy, Concussive and Force are found in the special rule section, pages 32-43 in the Rulebook.

Heavy, Assault and Salvo will be found under the rules for weapon types, pages 50-52 in the Rulebook.

Right but what does the numbers after the weapon special rule mean? Example assualt 1, 2, 3, heavy 1, 2, 3?

Type is made of a couple things:
The first is the weapon type - Assault, Rapid Fire, Salvo, etc. This tells you what you need to look at for how to use weapons of that type (BRB page 50-51)
Next is (usually) a number, such as 1, 2, 3. This tells you how many shots the weapon gets to fire (BRB page 13).
After that are special rules. Most will be located in the BRB, such as Barrage, Blast, Melta, etc. Others will be located in the respective codex either directly under the weapon, or under the weapons group, such as "Savant Lock" or "Bladestorm".

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Another question; raptors: take close combat weapons, can I take chain axes to replace those, as long as I add up the points?

Not without permission to do so.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

No, permission from the codex.
If the Raptors have the option of chain axes listed in their codex entry then they can take them.
If not, they can't.

Perhaps its a good idea to find someone to help you make your first army list.

All the options, special rules, basic rules and points cost can get confusing when starting out and its more than helpful to have someone with a little experience at your side.

I'd recommend making a basic point list and putting it on the army section. Plenty of people will help you (including myself). First look at some listing of armies to see the format though

So the codex says CCW, CCW are in the melee section. For chaos, chain axes are part of melee. So raptors come equipped with CCW. so after the review the ruling is over turned, I can take chain axes but must include the point value.

No, that isnt how the rules work.

Have a look at units which CAN take chainaxes, and note that this option is given to them explicitly

So then in the war gear of the unit, where it says CCW does that mean chain sword? With what your saying only KB and chaos lords are the only ones that can take that item. Which does not make sense.

Chain swords are generic close combat weapons. Chain axes are "special" close combat weapons with their own profile and are therefore restricted to certain units. Chain axes are closely linked to Khorne all through the fluff, so it makes sense that only Berzerkers and Chaos Lords can get their hands on them.

When you look at the section where the points cost per unit/model is in the codex, it will tell you exactly what they can take, in plain text.

It will say things like "For every five <Models>, one <Model> may replace their <Wargear> with..." and it will list the Wargear it can swap out, along with the point cost. If the Chain Axe isn't listed for the Raptor, then the Raptor cannot take it.

A chain axe is a mele weapon, but that does not mean that any mele weapon can be a chain axe.

Only those models with specific permission to take a chain axe may do so.

given that chainaxes are only really used by Worldeaters, then it makes perfect sense.

All squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares.

All chainaxes are Melee, but not all Melee are chainaxes. CCW is a type of Melee weapon, but it is not a chainaxe. They are NOT interchangeable.

I would second the above suggestion, that you get some help from an experienced player making your list. Have them check it over to make sure everything's legal.

I advise you to talk to the list building forum in this site, they have more experience answering list related questions then us rule lawyers.
