Good Evening

So I wanted to get large units of beasts for dark eldar, but I ain't really ready to pay 300e for huge squad of beasts so I try'd to look some alternatives. There was daemon hounds and such stuff, but then I came up with the idea that hey.. tyranids are awesome looking beasts. I took a book in my hands and searched for some possible background story and found something. Dark Eldar have captured quite big amount of tyranids for I don't really know. Would it be possible to say my beast master tamed tyranids after haemonculus pump'd them full of drugs so they would lose or weaken their connection to hive mind. Possible? why not!

So as khymeras I would take hormagaunts, beast about same scale. Then Raveners as razorwing flock. Okey it's not flock of birds, but it's multiwound beast with rending claws (both have rending) and same size base.

Would you love or hate this kind of idea? (oh, of course I'm saving a tons of money here and being cheap ass, but at least something out of the box hopefully!)

Most little Tyranid beasties are basically animals they o what they want whether it is to run towards a food source and eat it, or hide where they cannot be seen.

While highly unlikely, it is theoretically possible, that the Dark Eldar created some device that acts kind of like a Synapse, giving them control.

The fluff..ehh needs some work. As a Tyranid player, I love the idea. Besides, if Orks can konvert a carnifex, why can't the Dark Eldar take control of lesser beasties?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

Just be sure that your hormagaunts are on correct sized bases to be appropriate khymerae conversions.

Green stuff, letting some glue dry up in random areas of the carapace, and a lighter will be your friend with this conversion

I like the idea of using Vampire Counts Dire Wolves as the base for Kymerae, then converting Hormagaunt talons onto their backs. I'd also use Vargheists as clawed fiends but I was stock on what to use as the Razorwings, I like your ravener idea! Nice pick.

I too am stuck on what to use as razorwings (personally i think the ravener idea is just being lazy and wouldn't really go over too well in a tourney setting but meh) I thought about using the skylasher swarms from Forgeworld but then i realized that is probably just as expensive as normal razorwings

I've always thought dark elf harpies would be pretty cool as razorwing flocks. Either that or chaos furies. As for khymerae, chaos warhounds or vampire counts dire wolves.
