So I took a little break form my Orks project, and turned to some Deathwing Terminators and Belial that have been sat around for aggggeeess! (Theres a Land Raider Crusader for them to ride around in too... also not built)

I've hit a snag;
Shoulder pads.... I need more! Specifically Crux Terminatus Pads (the left shoulder)
I've magnetised everyones arm joints, and am working through the arms right now, Belial has all his options, and Id like the others to get some options too (or what was the point of the magnets! hehe)
I've only got 4 crux pads somehow, the apothecary arm, and belials finecrap arm have a pad, but that still leaves me only able to do 1 load out for the whole squad.

I do have a bunch of pads with Dark Angel wings on, and some Templar ones...
Anyone got any suggestions on how to work this one out?

If i have to... I suppose il try and get more pads from a reseller. Would rather not purchase more parts for them though.

Anyone know a way to make pads swapable?

Not worth the time or effort. Just trade where you can or hit eBay/Bartertown when you need to.

I'd just spend $3 on ebay and buy some more shoulder pads.

... does seem that buying more is the best solution unfortunatly.
Which means these are going back to the shelf for the forseeable future... I was trying to get them to ready to paint stage to work on over the weekend. ahh well... the Belial cast is crap anyway, its the only finecrap model Ive got, and il not be getting anymore!!

There is an alternative way of manetizing where the shoulders can stay on the model. But it requires some conversion and planning. You just cut the arms away from their shoulder joint bit. Then you can magnetize them there. That means that the shoulder stays on the model including the pads and you just swap out the arms below the shoulder. But that way the shoulders are in a fixed position and you arms might not go on the way you like it.

I was thinking about this recently as it's going to be a problem for me soon too. It should be pretty easy to magnetise the shoulder pads too. If the magnet in the arm is strong enough, you could even just use a small piece of metal probably. Since the shoulder pad envelops the arm it should be pretty solid and not fall off easily. That said, you'll have one model in 5 detachable pieces which might be a bit overboard ; /

Depending on the weapon swaps, it might be doable as blt suggests where you magnetise it at the elbow or wrist instead of shoulder.

Thanks for the suggestions
I bit the bullet and glued the pads onto the power fist and chain fist arms... I'l have to get some more to do thunder hammers and storm shields load out. and a couple more for Belials spare weapons sets.

I can still swap out all the heavy weapons that go in the right hand (i.e all but cyclone launcher) as I've got plenty of Dark Angel icon pads.
It is literally just the TH/SS setup that needs the shield arms... (am short some hammers for that too actually)

I can probably magnetise the Cyclone launcher too but it might be tough to hide the magnet within the top plate of the armour for when its not equiped. (I've done this kind of magnetising for hunterkillers on tanks where the magnet is flush with the armour plates and hard to spot. Maybe a simple pin in the launcher, and a socket in the armour plate? Leaving a small 1mm hole if not using the launcher?

The standard bearer and the apothecary ones are pretty much dedicated to those roles, as theres parts that werent worth magnetising on for the apothecary, and the flag has been pinned on. The other three guys in the squad could fill other roles in other units for games where I do not want a Deathwing Command but want some terminators.

Trying to decide if its worth starting to paint these guys now, or wait for the extra pads that I'l have to order and get all the arms done at same time...

Edit;
Browsed Ebay a little, found 'bmf-bits-ltd' selling sets of 5 from the Deathwing Command kit, and sets of 5 from the regular SM Terminators kit. So I ordered one set of each. Those should be here in a few days.
Primed and then base coated what I've got built so far with 'Halfords Camouflage Paints; Khaki' (The shop does 4 individual camouflage colours, black, brown, green and khaki designed to make camo patterns on things)

I've also got 5 Deathwing Knights, 5 Terminators from AoBR, 5 From Dark Vengeance and 5 built from some aquired bits that all could do with a repainting. Along with a Venerable Dreadnought, and a Land Raider Crusader to build that all could stand to have a matching colour scheme.

I think I've found my secondary project to go along side the Orks which are drawing to a close with about 10 more models to paint hehe.
