so.... which would be more usefull overall would you say?

spacewolfe lord riding wolf, with artificer armour, storm sheild, ice axe, and saga of the warrior ( whichever one that lets him get an extra attack for each wound caused)

orrr......

iron hands chapter master with bike, sheild eternal, arty armour, thunderhammer.

recently picked up the space wolf book, and thought that the space wolf captain could be usefull like that.

the iron hands chapter master would be great vw any MCs, or special characters, while the space wolfe captain would pown infintry squads.

I think the Wolf Lord on a wolf is better then the bike, for the extra attack, but it is a trade off.

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high

This one easily goes to the Iron Hand Captain, assuming neither side gets the charge.
The Sheild eternal means you have to chew through 4 wounds at 3++/6+++ with regen every turn on a 5+
The Captain on the other hand, only needs to push through a 3++, yes the bike saves the wolf from ID, but still, easier to wound statistically, plus the axe only wounds on a 4+ to the Iron Hand's 2+ to wound

Bedouin Dynasty: 10000 pts
The Silver Lances: 4000 pts
The Custodes Winter Watch 4000 pts

If instead of thunder hammer, have teeth of terra you can have a large number of attacks on the charge at str 6 and cut his initiative in half. Iron Hands all the way since he has murdered my space wolf opponents every time.

I'm far more for the Saga of the Bear than Warrior Born here.

Warrior Born is really nice, but anything S10 or with ID ends his reign right there. It's a small blind spot, but if you can hit it, you'll take a 250+ point model off the table in one fell swoop.

My general view on HQs, is if you're going big, go BIG, or downsize. A meat grinder is nice, but for a slight decrease in killing power, you get more survivability.

But to answer the question in the OP, I would take the Iron Hands CM. Access to bikes as troops, and IWND makes him pretty much impossible to kill over the course of several turns, you either do it all at once, or not at all.

A concept that is interesting is, albeit a HUGE point sink, is taking two of them. One kitted for vehicle/MC/Abbadon killing (Bike/Thunderwolf, Art Armor/Runic Armor, Thunderhammer/BurningBlade/PF, StormShield+SotBear/Shield Eternal) and another kitted out for infantry slaying (Bike/Thunderwolf, Art Armor/Runic Armor, Frost Blade+SotWarrior Born/Teeth of Terra, Storm Shield/Storm Shield). Super expensive 2 HQ combo, like 550 points once all is said and done, but dang if those two won't just gallivant around the map like utter BOSSES murdering everything and taking everyone's lunch money.

I kind of want to do that with White Scars, and just have them hit and run one unit into uselessness per turn between their Burning Blade and Teeth of Terra.

hrmm well i figureed the biggest thing that made the Space wolf have any chance of being better was tyhat he could stack more attacks, and then just wipe squads, where as the IH has to slog his way through any tarpit, which is why i didnt go for saga of the bear.

sadly, i cant have both as would use them as allies for eldar

Personally, whilst the IH mofo is more resilient overall, and has the greater staying power...the Wolf Lord is better in a one on one fight. No EW on the IH dude right?

Although this is not listed I would rather take two rune priests to try and shutdown the two invul builds that are out there, as well as getting jaws to help with them riptides.

I think I'd rather have the same build as the IH but using WS tactics.

Having nearly the same guy who can influence such a large area of the table while ignoring tarpits sounds nasty.
