Hey all,

I recently started using Thousand Sons in my lists given a lot of my friends are space marine variants and found they worked out really well. Now I want to properly represent them! However I don't really like the GW Thousand Son Upgrade kit.

My plan is to buy some marines off ebay and just strip them completely and then add on some extra bitz. I did a lot of looking, MicroArt, Scibor, Kromlech, Puppetswar, and a few others places... but i came across these guys and really want to find out what pieces this guy used.

Do any of these pieces look familiar, and if so where?

I found some sweet shoulderpads from

http://puppetswar.eu/product.php?id_product=150

and some alright heads from here but I prefer the ones the guy is using in the first link.

Some eastern European sculptor puts conversion kits up on ebay occasionally. I'm pretty sure that's what's in the first pictures.

There exists a webpage that claims to sell forgeworld on a discount. (But everyone suspects to sell recasts) They also cast some original model on their own, including the head and torsos that you posted. But you have to search for the link yourself as i don't want to support recaster. Also you yourself should think twice if you want to go that way.

of course the recasts are obviously not suggested, but any parts actually created by them should be fine.

It's not that I want to go for recaster, I want to make my thousand sons look great. I would be using all GW paint, as well as buying Chaos Space Marines, i just do not like the TS upgrade kits. They look like poop compared to these.

I have been toying with a 1k sons army for awhile. I personally have bought these heads, but then I quite liked the almost egyptian theme they were already rocking

The immortals helmets look slightly out of scale on a space marine. The mecha ones are nice though. I would also like to grab some of the parts the OP listed in his first link, can't find them.

I'd prefer to not post the link openly in the forum. But if you really really want it send me a pm and i can give it to you.

According to the discussion thread you linked,
Scibor, MaxMini, Kromlech, Kabuki, Hi Tech, Micro Art, Tridelin, Chapter House, etc, etc, etc.
So just search the respective web sites and see if anything they have jumps out at you.

They are from an eBay user name irina_est who no longer sells them as far as I know. If you find any you should PM me because I've been looking for these bodies for over a year.

There's also some good bits from some 3D printing websites. I'll dig through my threads, see if I can't find it.

Also, helmets are easy to make. You just need a hobby saw, some plasticard at the hobby-saws thickness ans some green stuff/more plasticard, files and a knife. Saw down the middle of the helmet, about half way, make a headdress design, cut it put and slot it in. The curved files are instrumental for getting smooth edges or even a perfectly rounded to angled partition in the middle at the top of the headdress. Then GS or plastic card to desire to fill out the details, more filing to even out all the edges..... This method lets you convert any helmet you want quite easily, and let's you get variation in your designs as well.

How would the GW conversion sets look if you combined them with Grey Knights bodies? Anyone ever tried that?

One of them filthy casuals...
