Did the chaplains in the new SM codex lose litigures of battle? I see they have zealot now, but what is the point of taking them now.. ? The librarian and captain/ CM seem like the much more obvious take..

Why would anyone take the current chaplains now?

Besides for fun, I'm talking semi competitively.

For Zealot on a choppy squad, which really should only be ASM or VV.
If you want a Chaplain to roll with termies, DA does it way better. An Interrogator-Chaplain with the Mace of Redemption in TDA with a unit of Knights is absurd.

What does liturgies do that zealot doesn't?

I don't have the RB on hand. But I was under the impression that zealot only gave hated to the model with the rule. Where as litigures allowed his entire squad to re roll hits on the charge?

Yes, hatred only affects the model, but zealot gives everyone in the Chaplain's unit hatred, as well as fearless.

I have termy Chaplin and some th termy i just don't see how Chaplins good any more i feel like I'm missing something. i liked the old chaplains given rerolls now they dont do anything special. Also why does he get fearless when all marines are already fearless

Marines are immune to the Fear USR ( through ATSKNF ) but are never Fearless unless it is conveyed to them via a character or they have it as a special rule ( re Purifiers or DA DW ).

They still give re-rolls (Check out Zealot in the BRB) and most marines are not fearless (ATSKNF is not quite the same).

Yeah other than the naming of the rules, Chaplains are exactly the same. Maybe their cost change as well, not sure.

ATSKNF is on page 33 of the BRB, and in some cases is better than Fearless (You can Go-to-Ground for example).

Wasn't Hatred better than the old Liturgies though? Liturgies only worked when the Chaplain's unit charged but IIRC Hatred works on the first round, whether the Hater is charging or recieving a charge.

Like i said i assumed atsnf also ment fearless

Yup you are right, there is no requirement to charge.
