So, I was curious, If you where to start Imperial Guard, What regiment (or whate ver it is called) would you play? Personaly, I'd pick Vostroyans. If they where in plastic I would start them instantly. Failing that i'd pick Steel Legion. But Vostroyans are awesome ^_^

Mine are cadian models, painted in victorian red with cream body armour. They look amazing en masse, especially if you're into the victorian period, specifically the film zulu. Tragically when i picked that colour scheme i didn't know how useless guardsmen are unless they have a metal box to sit in, so the only time they get to see the battlefield is when they scramble out of a chimera before dying or fleeing.

One thing i will say is that the plastic cadian models are very versatile, their look and feel completely changes depending on the colour scheme.

Ooooh, Do you hapen to have any photos of your army xruslanx? I did see an amazing IG army in White Dwarf once, With heads from the Warhammer Fantasy Empire range and Cadian bodies, Painted red with white pants (I think it was) They looked very steampunk..

Me, I'd go for Valhallans. Oldschool Soviets in Space! White tanks with red symbols! Huge greatcoats and pelt hats! Sacrifice and bravery! A host of fluff inspiration from WW2! What's not to like?

To be honest, the IG codex gives you more scope than any other for doing your own thing, you can do literally anything within reason. I've done this for my own army, mixing historical references with a hint of grimdark and a healthy dash of dramatic irony with regards to the Imperium as a whole (they found the world a paradise, untouched by war, and as soon as the troops from there were deployed, they developed illnesses from the filth of the imperial worlds. I like to think this is a microcosm of the Imperium itself, taking what could be so much more and reducing it through a stagnant and idealistic policy).

That said, if money were no object and I had to pick an established regiment,it would be either DKOK or Vostroyans (or both combined, the combination of simple and ostentatious would be rather cool artistically).

Swamp rats
they only have a little fluff in the book but strangely my dads army regiment was the swamp rats so id do it just for a tribute army

I would pick Vostroyans for the sheer level of manliness.

Tallarn all the way. Just the way they look is all kinds of cool, and all of them have awesome names, like "Captain Al'rahem," "General Akkir," or "Prince Iban Salid." I have always been a fan of Arabic and Persian cultures, as well as any other that can survive in deserts.

And there's plasma. Lots of plasma.

I have started my 11th Necromunda Combined Arms Regiment. Of which I use Cadian models for the Infantry squads.

If I could choose any regiment, it'd be Mordian based. Realistically? Probably stick with my Cadian homebrew.

Sadly, I started painting my IG Red (armor) and white (uniform) and didn't realize they're stupidly close to looking like peppermints.

Traitor guard! Id love to play Blood Pact. Im currently building a traitor guard based on Cadians that worship and work for my Word Bearers.

Model wise? Full army of karskin models those helmets are sexy

I love my Elysian Drop Troops, modesl looks friggin sweet and when they are painted they will look even better! However I am looking to expand, so depending on a number of factors I will either build a massive army of Elysians, or construct an army of Steel Legion if they go plastic or build an army of Death Korps of Krieg .

Good news to, one of the rumors I have kept hearing is that ALL the IG regiments will be made into plastic, however you will only be able to order them from online (besides the Cadians). Even so it will be awesome if that rumor is true!

I made a guard army out of converted cadians, and I still like the cadian kit because it's plastic. That said, there's other plastic out there nowadays.

Probably, I'd go for something a bit older-looking and heavier, like vostroyan, but I wouldn't play them because they're metal/finecast. Instead, I'd do something more like combining WHFB empire greatswords and cadians. Or like high elf torsos/legs and guard heads/arms, or something. I'd also very seriously consider doing Perry miniatures Napoleonics, but they're the wrong scale, and that would be a LOT of work to convert them all over.

If I had the money - Praetorian models. Those pith helmeted oiks.
I have no love for the cadians in plastic (the metals were nice, though), the catachans, or the steel legion and nothing but utter hatred for the vostroyans (I just cannot like them. There's just too much crap on the models).

Wouldn't be one of their established "named" regiments, though.

Me personally, I'm selling off my old Cadians and making a small kill team based off the old Cadians that were metal. I like their look a lot better and since I'm only making a small kill team force I won't nearly as many as if I was insane enough to build another foot guard army.

Personally, i would love to make a steel legion army. That being said though already have Cadians with the standard Green Armour and Tan fatigues.

I am also fond of old-style Cadians and Elysians, and pretty much all of the ranges except modern plastic Cadians and Catachans. Even Vostroyons for the steampunk style.

A mechanized Cadian force. Which is kinda of what I play now, minus the cadian part.

I honestly like the cadians though. They aren't some fancy regiment that has some story perk going for them, they are generic guardsmen with uncommon valor that hold the line.
