Subject: Good alternatives for Dark Elves?

So while I love the new Dark Elves release for WHFB, I can't justify spending that much money on them. Games Workshop has lost yet another customer due to their outrageous pricings.
So that aside, I was wondering what are some good companies that make nice looking Dark Elves models and are cheaper that GW? Please and thank you

If you're willing to wait, Raging Heroes just showed some concept art at the end of their recent TGG kickstarter update. They won't be cheaper, but they'll probably be better. Also, as an Aussie - buy GW products from Discount Games Store in the US. You'll pay roughly half our retail. I just picked up 3 new space marine strike forces for $177 each - they're $350 RRP each here, and have $495 worth of models if bought individually. DE Dreadspears are $27 compared to $45 for example. Alternately, there's China.

Not too bad really, 1-2 weeks. 3 if their congress shuts down ; p I usually pay ~10% of my order in postage which still amounts to a huge saving over buying in Aus.

Reaper's Bones stuff is super cheap and has a bunch of spiky evil elf models. The quality is a little suspect on their smaller, skinnier guys, but if they're just peppered in with your other units they can add bulk to units without standing out too much. There's also a bunch of assorted monsters that can work for the bigger DE beasties, and bones material works much better for them. There's a really nice hydra model you can use as...a hydra.

Gamezone has some nice Dark Elves, mostly metal but currently converting them to restic regiment boxes.
30 Gamezone warriors cost about as much as 10 GW dreadthingies.
Raging Heroes will make a Dark Elf release some time in the future with nice alternative designs, could be cheaper than GW as well, noone knows ATM though.

Yes think that Raging Heroes might take a while..
One option (and cheaper) would be the Mantic Twilight Kin
Although, about £1.70 per miniature not as cheap as a lot of their ranges.
Otherwise would second Kroot's Gamezone miniatures, have an army of their dwarves and they are lovely little miniatures - here is a painted example:
And their riders are awesome.. and check out their Harpy as well (which is approx. 8000 times better than the GW version)
There are lots of character miniatures around, made by different companies, but Avatars of War is worth checking out
Hope that helps!

All are great examples thanks heaps guys!
I'll have to have a look at all the above posts and see which one is the best price and which ones I like better Automatically Appended Next Post: I particularly like the gamezone miniatures and will definitely be getting some if only to convert them into some lords or something!

Just the usual caveat for Gamezone:
Those minis are first of all made for looks. Not a problem for foot soldiers, but a big metal dino balancing on one toe is a challenge to transport and play with. Also multi-part models tend to have bad fitting, making use of greenstuff to fill the gaps necessary. If you can, wait for restic versions.

Raging Heroes is starting a KS for DE at some point and the art work for them is amazing looking. The also already make some DE-ish mini if you look at their website.
