I am starting an IG army to compliment a crimson fists sternguard drop pod list. As I have little in the way of knowledge on imperial guard I thought I'd ask what yall thought would be a good compliment.

Here is my general list:

Pedro Kantor (scoring sternguard) (with 1 of the 10 man sterngaurd drop pods, replacing one sterngaurd)
2x 10 man tac squads in drop pods
3x 10 man sterngaurd drop pods 4x combi melta in each
2x Skyhammer Stormtalon
5 dev squad 4 ML
5 man dev squad 3 Lazcannon

So I was thinking of adding some IG that would camp back in my half of the board and score objectives. What do yall think would be best for this, and is this a good idea?

Resin Printer (minaitures) is a 4K printer with one of the largest build volumes available for a resin printer (192mm x 120mm x 245mm) with an amazing .01mm resolution! This professional printer is one of the best resin printers on the market!

FDM Printer (terrain) also has one of the largest build volumes available for an FDM printer (400mm x 400mm x 450mm) and has an amazing ,05mm build accuracy.

A platoon blob of 20-30 Guardsmen with a Commissar backed up with a heavy weapons team or two, and a Company Command Squad to order them around would be really solid. You could swap out your dev squads and get some autocannons and lascannons with Bring it Down! but I guess you might want to keep the Chapter Tactics on those dudes instead. I'd say add a Leman Russ as well, but then it starts getting pretty expensive.

Your army seems like it might be kind of points-hungry as is; sniper scouts would be solid backfield objective holders if you just wanted that job done easily.

Best option:

Lord Commissar (babysits the platoon)

PCS, 4x flamer (in Vendetta)
Infantry squad, melta + LC
Infantry squad, melta + LC
{additional meatshields if you want}

Vendetta

{heavy support tank of your choice}

That gives you a lot of cheap bodies to hold objectives, good firepower from the Vendetta and tank, and a mobile late-game scoring unit aboard the Vendetta.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
