HI guys I'm looking to do a Dark Elf army but I don't really no or have the army book at. I'm looking to do a 2400 point army.
Stuff I like.

All the core... I really like spear and sword infantry.
Hydras and the other thing
Cold ones
cauldren
executioners

Now I don't want like a super cheesy list or anything, but something that would be solid and waht is good to buy frist? how is the balltalion for value?

Just about everything in the new book is pretty solid. Get a level 4 sorceress for your lord. I'd lean towards a master over a death hag for your BSB for survivability (I like him on a dark pegasus for mobility). For core bleakswords or corsairs to protect your caster, witch elves are fairly nasty but fragile, and dark riders are one of the best fast cav options in the game right now. Executioners have always been my favorite unit and have never let me down, definitely get these guys. Cold one knights aren't as good as they used to be but are still a good support unit and look awesome. Hydras are a shadow of their former greatness and pretty easy to kill. They do however tend to scare people and draw attention away from your more important units. Chariots are a good, tough, hard hitter (especially used in pairs or a trio). You'll probably want a couple bolt throwers, they're cheap and versatile. Black guard have never lived up to expectation whenever I've fielded them. Maybe in the new rules they'll be better, I haven't tried yet. Shades are decent and can ruin enemy formations and cause chaos for them. The best rare choice is easily warlocks. Fast cavalry, 2 poisoned strength 4 attacks each, they are a level2 caster with 2 good spells, and have a 4+ ward. The kharibdyss looks like a good monster (not great). It certainly looks better than the hydra to me and causes enemies in base contact to reroll successful Ld tests. I see some pretty good combos using these guys as support.

Taking into consideration what you like this is the first thing that came to mind. It looks decent and fun while not being cheesed out. I'm not very good at making cauldron lists as I never use them and think they are just a point sink. However I can try if you want.

There's a new plastic box coming out with the bits to make the new warlocks and the dark riders.

Where are you getting that? They haven't released the new models yet and will probably come in boxes of 5 where you can make them either dark riders or warlocks.

The common conversion is 2 boxes of the old DE warriors and 1 box of WE Glade Riders -> 16 Dark Riders. Use Warrior heads, arms, and torsos with Glade Rider legs and mounts, it's a very simple kitbash. Works wonders and looks tons better than the old metal Dark Riders... not to mention still better than the upcoming snaggle-tooth Dark Rider mounts.

Last time I checked each of those boxes were only $35 each, so it's $105 for 16, so around 1/4 the price...

The list titaniumkiz is giving you looks pretty solid to me, the reason he's recommending the dark riders to you is bc you need chaff in your list and they serve that purpose very well!

Remember new Dark Rider models are out soon I'd expect probably something like £20-25 for a box of 5.

You can use small units of witches instead if you want. It's not quite as effective but still works. If you do that though you might want to consider a unit of harpies also to kill enemy war machines (they really have to go asap).

I don't mind some horses mind some horses.
