I'm about to do a whole-army in one go purchase for 40K and the cheapest price I can find, shopping round a bit, seems to be Triple Helix. I saw some bad reviews, dating back to earlier in the year when they were "having problems" but I just wanted to know if anyone has bought from them recently and what kind of experience you have had? I don't want to take risks with a big purchase but also discounts add up....
Thanks v much!

I've never heard of Triple Helix - though that does not necessarily mean anything.
Check out the Dakka banners for other UK stores offering a discount.
I've bought from Element Games before and been very pleased with their service. Wayland games (for me at least) has always been slow to dispatch items.

Their site isn't great but the service has always been good for me.
Element games is my favourite though, great site and great service.

Your choice (unless someone else comes in to vouch for Triple Helix either way ).
At the end of the day though, £40 isn't a massive amount when you can easily be talking £500 for an army. Especially if you have heard "bad things" about a company.
Shamikebab says they have used them in the past and been happy with them, though he did not say how long ago that was.

I haven't used them for about 4 months but before that I used them for 5/6 months or so without problems. They're cheaper than Element but I honestly don't mind paying a bit more for the better site and service (plus they have a reward scheme)
I know someone who uses their physical shop regularly and they're his preferred supplier.

I'd recommend dark sphere, as the saying goes 'you get what you pay for'. I'd rather pay more and have good service etc then pay less (from somewhere like total wargamer, who I was a very good customer off until enough was enough) and get poor service. At the end of the day the choice is yours, everyone has their own recommendations. ...

I have never placed an order with Triple Helix. The reason being I sent them an email asking them to confirm their stocks of an item and it took them two months to reply.
I guess it goes to their credit that they did ultimately get back to me, but as my online orders are more often in the £30-70 range, they've never offered me enough of an incentive to take a punt with them.

If you're going in anyway, it might be worth asking if they'll cut you a better deal for a huge order. My local increases the discount a bit with bigger orders (and extra 5% over £100 for instance)

Dark Sphere let you order online, at online prices, and collect in store, so no postage either!
Alternatively, I believe the threshold is £100 spend in store to qualify for the web price.

Triple Helix are also one of the few that do free postage regardless of spend so it's great for picking up small orders like the odd paint.
Edit: Or perhaps they've changed that? Can't see it on the front page any more :(

They charge 2.95 within the uk which seems to be a flat rate no matter how much you get?

Yeah, they've obviously stopped the free delivery. That's a shame, I haven't got anywhere to get the odd paint now without getting screwed on delivery :(

Triple Helix offered GW scenery, but agreed to quickly cancel the order when I queried the delay.GW had blocked sale of scenery, or something, and dropping that from the order would fall below the free shipping level.
I'd shop with them again, while being careful to second-guess GW's latest stupid policy of the month.
Element Games were good, as the last online store I have ordered from. Quick and easy, IIRC.
But, I've been sucking up the discounts recently, and buying from shops. Less fuss and worry, if you're in town anyway, and if they have stock.

One thing that triple helix will do is let you know asap if an item is out of stock. They will then put an order in on the following monday and have it shipped out by Wednesday.
A lot of other places just leave you guessing! Or even worse give you the impression its in stock when it isn't.
They need to sort their website out as its a little low key when compared to others but the impression I got when I went down there (they are about hour from me) was its run by very enthusiastic people who will do everything to please the customer.

I prefer intent over efficiency, as long as they treat their customers as people, not just an order.
GW's supposed ideal of enthusiasm and knowledge of the stock only goes so far. If they don't really care about the 'HHHobby', move on to the next shop down the road, or the internet sites.
We really need a store scoring system here, to leave comments about our shopping experiences.
Good to hear that TH are doing well.
Keep buying from them, or they'll disappear.....

I did start a "positive retailer feedback" thread a while back, but it has long since dropped waay off the front page, perhaps I could necro it, but the issue really was that if a retailer does what is expected, there really isn't much to talk about, coupled with it is usually the same names over and again that keep getting cited as the better choices.
