So he could be stand alone. There is a little bit of rubble under one foot that could be shaved off/worked into a new base. Not sure how easy it would be to magnetize him to swap between a game base and the decorative one. Angles for the magnets would be rough. Potentially doable though.
What if you put a metal pin the model and the magnets in the respective bases?

I’ll need to look closer when I have the diorama base more put together.
The rock he’s standing on is not wide. It might be like 2mm wide by 3. That’s a guess. To the point I’m not sure I could sink a magnet into the bottom, but would need to use the side.
But due to the angles, getting a magnet into the side of the slot he fits into on the decorative base would be hard, or require rebuilding.
Not sure about the contact for the outstretched foot.
A metal pin might be the best answer.

I would go with a pin.
The base will need suitable thickness to receive it to increase stability.
Maybe a tiny shallow magnet in the outstretched foot and a pin thru the rock.
Alternatively, a pin straight up the shaft of the staff.

Wow. It was good to catch up on a few pages.
KT is a deceptively 'accessible' game. Need a full army to play? Nope, just a handful of models.
Are the rules accessible? Also; nope. There is a lot going on and so much to remember.
But having said that, it is an enjoyable game. And once you crack your understanding of the cover rules, it becomes much easier. Repetition definitely helps, and playing a broad range of people help with it too. Focus on learning the game rules. Then your Team's rules. I don't bother learning my opponent's teams - I just ask a few key questions (Any healing? Where is your Peircing? Any additional APL? What are your 'gotcha's'?)
That Eldar model is awesome, and I've sat looking at it a few times too. I look forward to seeing what you do with it. IMO, don't pin or magnetise, the risk ofa mistake making it all go wrong is high and realistically how often are you going to bust it out on the table to play with?

The thought of how often I need to field it crossed my mind. I don’t have an actual spiritseer, which complicates things. I’ve got an old farseer with a staff (who I like and counts-as) We’ll see what happens when I get the base more built. But just “Nope!”ing out and glueing him to the base is a very real option.
So yesterday was part one of Armys on Parade, for smaller entries not on boards. Somewhere in the high 30s of entries. I think he had 18 awards to give out, evenly divided bronze/silver/gold. I got a bronze, which puts me somewhere in the bottom third of the top half. Not horrible. Today is the day for entried on boards. Mine might be lame, but I’m bringing it. Full soulblight army. Yesterday we needed to fit everything onto roughly a 8.5x11” secction. I did the Blood Hunt; Mounted vamp lord, blood knights, puppies.
Not much painting going on, as I’ve been sucked into No Man’s Sky.
