Subject: Advice writing my first Iron Hands list & how to make the most of the trait!

Storm Trooper with Maglight

I've been in the process of putting together my first army and starting playing for well over a year now.
So far all I've gotten around to finishing is 5 tactical marines and I've got another 5 laying around to convert still, a techmarine with servo harness and a twin-linked lascannon razorback. My lack of models gives me better space to change my list, as I have done several times.
Some help in writing my new list for the 6th edition codex would be greatly appreciated!
I've gathered that in order to make the most of the IH trait you should fill up on long range, high AV firepower and keep well away from melta range which laugts at IWND. Also, to make the most of characters. I'm aiming to write a 1000 point list and so far have two things in mind:
A mortis pattern contemptor dreadnough; I don't like flyers and would rather have AA that's useful other than as an AA unit. I also love the new IH contemptor.
A vanilla dreadnought, as to be inkeeping with the IH theme.
A couple of razorbacks
Using my techmarine as a MOTF.
An LR achilles with the MOTF inside and a small tactical squad.

Remember to pick up some more tacticals. You need atleast two troops and a third can be usefull too.
Are you asking for fluffy advices or tactical advices?
I would assume tactical as this is the tactical thread.
The IH chapter seems rather popular right now. Its nice because it gives you a small but usefull bonus to almost all units in the army. The other chapters needs to tailor their lists to get as much out as possible from their chapter tactics.
Whats good in a IH army is the Chapter master on bike with 2+ save and either fancy shield and hammer or fancy sword and shield. The Master of the forge is fluffy but not that good.
If you want to stay fluffy and still competitive. I would recoment the Thunderfire cannon. Alot of dakka, bolster ruins, sniping barrage and fluffy. One or two would be nice.
Another good IH choise are the dreads. They are not as good as in 5th edition but they are still ok. With the chapter tactic they can use the venereble upgrade.
If you take the Chapter master on bike, you might as well take a squad of bikes with grav guns.
As a deathstar a unit of Honour guard in a Land raider can be good too.
You should avoid the razorbacks. They were really good in 5th, but now with hullpoints, first blood, no scoring on mounted units and higher price, the glory days are over.
Good luck with your new army!

4x grav gun 4x storm shield and 4x melta bomb? Ill dakka it to death. your chapter master cant be everywhere, and even if he can, I can still kill him with dakka.
No TFC? not sure if serious
