Hello Team
New to modelling and tabletop warhammer (but i know a bucket about wfrp). Never really done models before but I decided to buy a packet of IG shock troopers to see if I like painting. My question is how is the guard? I've always like the idea of them story wise but how do they play?
Can you also point me to a few colour scheme suggestions?

For color scheme suggestions and all around modeling/painting help check out the painting and modeling section of dakka!
I don't play IG but my understanding is that they are consistently competitive each time a new version comes out. They are a pretty fun army to play against and they have a lot of character.

Welcome to Dakka Dakka, I would recommend reading up on tactics, lists, and Battle Reports. I play in the Clackimus area in Oregon. Send me a line if you need some starter advice.
I don't play IG either. I haven't played against them either come to think of it. I have seen them played two ways. Take for ever, and soooo quick. Either tons and tons of models, infantry, or lots of tanks and planes, maybe 6-10 models. I do know that their terrain is the funnest to make. Just research todays army tech and you can make it out of cans, sprues, straws...nothing too complicated or boring like other armies.
