Subject: Daemonettes, best troop choice in the daemon book?

Greetings,
Played a game yesterday and won with Daemons. Second game ever running daemonettes and let me just tell you they're insane! first game they killed two leman russ, a hellhound and 2 guard squads. That was just a blob of 20. The second game that same blob of 20 killed a deathwing termie squad, a deathwing knight squad, and a tac squad. I love these guys. I mean, they're squishier than plague bearers, but aside from camping objectives plaguebearers don't do anything. These chicks run an addition 3" , are lighting fast, rend, usually go first in combat, and are dirt cheap at 9 points per model. I LOVE these chicks! lol.
So far for me they've outshined pink horrors and plague bearers. They're also a better and cheaper option than Bloodletters. Thoughts?

Daemonettes are good. Personally, I prefer daemonettes and pink horrors.
It really depends on how you want to build your list. You can take a lot of daemonettes. However, I prefer to "invest" my offense in other areas - namely, my FMC's and Fast Attacks. You think daemonettes are good? Wait til you try out Seekers of Slaanesh. In any case, I normally use my troops more for a shooty support role than as a main offensive unit role. You charge in with daemonettes and they are going to get shot up by the likes of Tau and Eldar. They are just not fast enough against these armies. Against them, seekers and flesh hounds are better.

Daemonettes seem to be the best offensive troop choice, but you can't beat Pink Horrors for last minute capturing and contesting or Plague Bearers for just sitting on the point the entire game.

I've only run into Daemonettes once. Unfortunately my Harlequins made very short work of them. i say unfortunately because it left them open to be roasted by 14 Burna Boyz in a BW. At least I think it was 14...

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

The problem with plague bearers is that they don't really *do* anything. They're slow and sorta hard to kill unless you face ANY unit that ignores cover..other wise they either camp objectives or wander around the battlefield doing nothing of importance. Okay yeah they can cause glancing his to vehicles but how do they get there with their awfully slow movement.
Demonettes are best for assault obviously but Horrors imo are probably the best overall because 6th edition is all about shooting and they benefit greatly from a herald.

By deep strike
I run mono nurgle, and a full unit of plaguebearers with a herald dropping in next to or behind your gunline can be a mite distracting.
Most vehicles won't be able to move far enough away to be helpful, as other units will hamper movements, and odds are the unit can make a nuisance of itself, especially if it's not the only one. I usually drop two in with a GUO if i can

As a troop unit, Daemonettes are probably the most offensively powerful unit in the book. Rending, lots of attacks, decently fast, etc...
However, I'd probably put Pink Horrors on the same level. They have the advantage of range. They're slightly more survivable, with the re-roll 1's rule. Perhaps most importantly, their damage doesn't decrease until the unit is gone. 1 Pink Horror can shoot 2d6 strength 5 ap 4 shots. What can 1 Daemonette do?

I have the book and am assembling a daemon army at the moment and daemonettes are the troops I was leaning towards. My brother however was not sure if they got the bonus attack for having 2 cc weapons he plays tyranids allot and did not think they would based off his assumptions from his book (it's late now and don't want to wake him up to clarify what he meant) so if someone could clarify for me on if daemonettes do get the bonus attack I would appreciate it. thanks.

Demonettes don't have any listed weapons, so they would count as a having a single CC weapon. They just happen to have 2 base attacks

My problem would be with model and base size. Seekers are rather tall and long, so its hard to block LOS to the entire unit and they take up alot of table space (especially if you take 10 or more). Making winged daemonettes and using them as counts-as Seekers is a bit of modeling for advantage (even if it is for artistic purposes). Now if you used them as Furies of Slaanesh, that's an entirely different matter.

An issue with the pink horrors, if you perils they don't do anything for a turn on box cars, and if your opponent denys the witch they also do nothing.

Daemonettes have a similar problem. If they fail a charge, then they do nothing...except get shot up next turn. At least the horrors should be in cover so that they can still g-t-g against enemy shooting if necessary.
But the main thing is that horrors don't follow the Law of Diminishing Returns. That means the more daemonettes you lose, the more impotent their offense becomes. For horrors, you can lose 9 out of 10 horrors and your offense will still be the same with no loss of effeciency.

Case in point (though anecdotal and rather improbable) - last night a single Horror killed three Marines in a single shooting phase. It's why Horrors tend to be the best unit to summon through the Portalglyph, assuming - as most of my playgroup does - that summoned units get to generate powers when they're created (though please note that they can't Manifest that turn, since they didn't exist when charges were generated)

How dare you say you dislike the noodle boobs!
In this case rule of cool as long as you have correct bases. In a GT have them approved by the TO beforehand since it is obviously smaller then the anteaters

If you put three or four on a single cavalry base with some of them elevated similar to Joe Swooping Hawks Scourges, and Raptors are, I would be fine with it. But the seeker models are significantly larger than a regular daemonette so it will take quite a bit to get them close enough in size to work.

Just thought I'd put my poll post here so you can get an idea of numbers.
I would say Daemonettes are of course the best offensive cc troop choice available. Pink horror blobs run with a herald are probably more offensive out to range 24, however they must have the herald to help them, and suffer terribly at the hands of unlucky deny the witch rolls.
Horrors are the best choice if you do not want to use the troop choices offensively or do not want heralds. They can run, shoot (with some cheesy positioning they can shoot round cover whilst only exposing one model to return fire), and also when going to ground they can be nearly -and sometimes even better- than plaguebearers due to their re-roll on failed 1's. They are the all round best option.
When using the portalglyph I summon daemonettes or horrors. The daemonettes are for capping points with their fast ms, the horrors are great for generating shooting attacks which are well about their squad size of 3 or so models.

I just want to point out daemonettes are fleet... Combine that with their speed and they aren't going to fail many charges. I also want to say having fleet is HUGE when they're going into terrain, that 1 your roll on 3 d6 gets rerolled and will ensure they make it there. Combine that with the rapturous standard and the unit they charge is hitting them (usually) on 5s and they're hitting on 3s.
If you run them with FMCs and seekers they're going to get ignored and make it to combat easily. Just my 2 cents as I play a LOT of games with daemons and these are my findings on the table top. I love the horrors, I really do. I don't like using an HQ slot on a herald and by themselves hitting on 4s really isn't all what it's cracked up to be. My typical troop load out is as follows:
10 horrors
10 horrors
10 plague bearers
10 plague bearers
20 daemonettes.
