Another IG list with IF allies, I wanted to utilize the IF chapter tactics and use some tacticals for the bolter drill and I really liked the tank hunting centurions I am just unsure of the hq.

IG primary force:

CCS
Lascannon and regimental standard

PCS (in vendetta)
X4 flamers

X4 PIS (not sure how I'm going to blob these guys)
Auto cannon
Grenade launcher

Vets (in vendetta)
x3 flamers or 3 grenade launchers-probably stick with flamers.

Vendetta

Vendetta

LRBT

Vanquisher
LC/PC

Aegis line with quad

IF allied detachment

Librarian (in blob) (not sure if I like this as an hq)
Mastery lvl 2

x2 10man tactical squads
Combi plasma
Plasma gun
Heavy bolter
Rhino

Centurion devastators
All with missiles and lascannons
Omniscope

So the idea is that the IG troops sit back and provide fire support. When possible the IF rhinos will try to push for an objective outside of the deployment zone or mid field and try to hold their ground. The 2 russets will advance to try and get good firing lanes to protect the IF. Vendettas cover the sky and try to drop troops off to clear objectives.

How does the IF detachment look, I'm trying to really make use of the chapter tactics.

Comments are appreciated!

General consensus is that vets should never take flamers as it is a waste of their BS 4.

Very true but I needed a second troop choice for the IG, and I only had 15pts remaining for upgrades so its either flamers or grenade launchers. I personally know from experience that flamers are better for clearing objectives and killing geq type troops.

Any other suggestions? Preferably on the IF?

I think if you're really looking for bolter drill and tank hunter go for a different line up that gives you more bolters overall. I'm thinking

x3 5man tactical squads
Heavy Bolters
Rhino

x1 5 Man Stern guard
I gave them combi plas and combi flamer but w/e you want

x1 Captain
Artificer Armour

x1 5man Devastator Squad with Lascannons and MIssile Launchers.

It's two less heavy anti-tank weapons but you get more dakka from the heavy bolters and you can kit out the Sternguard with w/e combi weapons you want.

Unless you meant you REALLY like tank hunter

In which case I'd drop the Sternguard and a tac squad then bring in the Centurion Devastators and give the captain a power weapon and combi plasma on top of the artificer.

Would 3 five man squads really be better than 2 10 man squads? The Idea with the Tacticals is that they will probably push up the field when they have the chance while being supported but the IG.

I think if I ran devastators I would probably go with a 10 man squad with 2 lascannons and 2 missile launchers so I can combat squad them and have the missiles in 1 group and the lascannons in the other.

I also was thinking about using the centurions over the devastators because helldrakes are a pain to deal with. If they get on the board they are most likely going to torch a squad. Where the centurions arent really effected by the flamer or the vector strikes.

Also in this edition there is a ton of ap1-2 that will bring the centurions down but seeing as the centurions have long range weapons It will be hard for my opponents to really hurt them with most of those weapons.

I do like the captain instead of the Librarian at this point. Give him AA and a power weapon or fist and I will probably just have him go on beat stick duties.

Thanks for the reply! Also I probably wont use the stern guard at the moment just because that will be one costly allied detachment that I believe will probably be better off being the primary force.

True, I was thinking more heavy bolters for objective holding and you could have the stern guard with combi weapons rolling around with the captain as backup. The devastator a are nice cuz of signum IMO, cuz you can drop a flak missile onto one and use the sergeants signum in order to boost him to BS 5 and use skyfire. To hit on 2+ and use tank hunter to reroll penetrates.

That is a pretty interesting decision, and I will have to think about that. I was just at my local shop and a friend had brought up that if I ran centurions with grav amps and moved them to the middle of the board with the 2 tactical squads I would have a good force that basically will be able to contest the middle of the board. This will also give me a strong force to give distance between the enemy and my IG force. Where as if I used devastators they would just sit back with my IG blob and also continue to act as a gunline.

Also it would save be 10pts if I dropped the centurions to have grav amps because I wouldnt upgrade to give them missile launchers.

The reroll is quite nice on those grav amps I kit mine with missile launchers and then two lascannons and a grav

Basically from what I had realized with my friend is that the centurion squad with grav amps will destroy a vehicle a turn or will basically be able to put enough wounds on a wraith knight or any monstrous creature to kill it in a turn. Only armies that these guys would struggle with are horde but with rerolls on the grav amps and I would keep the bolters on them, they would be able to put some wounds towards the enemy.
