Good Morning Dakka!

As my inaugural (non-p&m) post, I'd love to throw up my dark eldar list that I use for both little tournaments and day to day gaming. If the collective folks of dakka could yell a few helpful things at it, I'd be content ^_^

As a bit of short 'n sweet background, I've been playing 40k since the literal first day of 3rd edition (waaaay back in '98), but I've never been attending anything "serious" until recently. Honestly I've been a 99% hobby gamer.

Anyways, I built this originally to play different common points levels at my FLGS, and to do something "different-ish" for the dark eldar, whom I have come to love as my favorite gaming *and* modeling army. It performed pretty hilariously well among the typically gun-line tau, eldar, space marines, taudar, and imperial guard of my locality. But as I get more serious about my gaming performance, I think the list could use a few helpful polishing bits. Most of my games have been at the 1500pt level, and with this list, I wanted to keep the basic "core" the same as the points costs went up.

For your collective perusal:

The Kabal of the Arterial Arc 1500pts

Succubus - Venom blade, Haywire Grenades

Grotesques x 4 - Aberration w/ Scissorhand, Liquifier, Raider w/ Dark lance

If you want a cheap HQ to go with your Grotesques, I'd pick up a Haemonculus for another Liquifier gun. But I guess Succubus would work as well. It would be wonderful if you can put them in a raider as well.

I like to have Night Shields on every vehicle. Dark Eldar vehicles are very fragile and I found that NS saved my ass more than once. I also highly recommend Splinter Racks on the Raiders with the warriors. Those are amazing.

I'm not really a fan of Jetbikes. They are quite useful to be sure but if you're planning on assaulting with them Combat Drugs would be most useful here. But they are all good I guess.

Overall though solid lists of course. A lot of dakka, good amount of lances. Simple and certainly effective.

Whoops! Thanks for catching that oraj.

The grotesques do indeed have a raider. The succubus joins up with them to give a majority toughness 5 and FNP to start. That gives her a pretty nasty boost once they get into HTH.

Two of your points I'd like to discuss:

1.) Upgrades on the raiders. Do you think they're really worth it? Raiders are kinda deathtraps for warriors. I do love Nightshields when I've got the extra points. But splinterracks (while awesome) do encourage you to stay stuck in those raiders. It wasn't so bad in 5th when it was only a STR3 hit on everyone inside, but that STR4 is killer now.

2.) Succy vs Haemonculus. This is one I've actually wrestled with for awhile. I love the 2nd pain token, but the Succubus is much more killy in combat. The problem being, with Furious charge, everyone in that unit that isn't an ablative wound (the succy and aberration) has a poisoned weapon. Without furious charge, the scissorhand aberration re-rolls wounds on marines on a 3+ with 6 attacks. I feel like the haemy takes away a good bit of killy by taking away all those high WS venom blade attacks.

Thanks for the response!

Succy is certainly not bad in cc but for me the more the liquifiers the merrier! But I totally get your point.

On the Splinterracks, yes they certainly let kabbies get comfy inside and raiders do blow up eventually. But I like to use mobility in my army and I usually let my Eldar allies sit the objectives. Splinterracks represent the glass cannonness of the Dark Eldar army really; hit hard and get hit hard. I won't take a kabbie raider without em.

Have fun!
