Ok so i have 5 chosen. 2 have lighting claws the rest have power fists. Do i have to keep this configuration everytime i play or can i change game to game?
I'm only asking because the models have specific weapons that need to be glued once glued its hard to get them off
Also do i do seperate rolls for each weapon or diffrent coloured dice?

Probably work

Magnets. Magnets fix all of your issues. Get a hobby drill too. I've had good luck with amazingmagnets.com. Get the discs, and make sure you measure the arm sockets to get the correct size you want.

For the second question, long as your opponent understands how you're doing it, it really doesn't matter. I roll each weapon type one at a time usually, but if it's just a single extra shot of some other weapon, I'll use a smaller die and roll it at the same time as all of the others, but I always call out what is what as I'm rolling it.

Your opponent usually will accept a "counts-as" weapon change, as long as you make VERY clear what models have changed wargear. However, everybody appreciates WYSIWYG. For the second question, the core rulebook should tell you that different weapons in a unit have different rolls, but the rule applied to the weapons or models can change the to-hit or to-wound rolls.

In the future, though, remember to use good grammar when stating your issues.

Also, welcome to Dakka.

EDIT* I'm sorry, I had not realized that when you said "chosen", you were specifically referring to a unit.

I have a collection of extra sargents and chosen and champions and such.

Generally, if a model doesn't come with X when you purchase it normally, you need to show any upgrades on the model. The chosen in the starter set make great champions, but otherwise a very expensive chosen unit.

So yes, in tournament play, your models must have what they have on them. Gear that comes standard doesn't need to be show, but upgrades do.

I would defiantly second magnetizing it is fun to do and gives you lots of options.

I know in tournaments you need to have WYSIWYG but honestly if I was playing against you and you had a groups of 5 chosen all with daul lightning claws and told me they all had bolters I wouldn't care at all.

The second question depends on the weapons your using, and how you like to throw dice haha

How do the magnets work then? Glue a magnet on to the hand then glue another magnet on to a weapon?

Basically but you want to get some REAAAAAAALLLLLY tiny neodymium magnets and a tiny drill bit.

You drill a tiny hole in the hand so the magnet is flush with the surface and then you drill a hole on the weapon and do the same.

If you do decide to do that it might be sort of difficult with small models but I have magnetized my XV8's no problem.

The magnets are 1/32" x 1/16" if I recall not sure.

BUT if you aren't planning on playing in any tournaments and just want to play at your local game store just go in and ask if they are cool with you proxying stuff on smaller models (NORMALLY this isn't a problem)

The deal with magnets boils down to a financial decision.

You will generally spend FAR less magnetizing certain wargear on your models than by purchasing multiple copies of the same model.

However, I'd say if you are starting out then just get something put together and play a few games. Pretty soon your going to figure out what wargear works for you and what doesn't.

Not everybody. There is alot of people who don't care as long as you say what is what, and you don't change it in the middle of the game.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.
