hey all im already planning my list for invasion in feb next year.Me and my friend have written our lists from the same army book (space marines) and i was wondering what you all thought of the two separate lists. So here we go:

my list
using the iro hands chapter tactics: master of the forge with a conversion beamer-110pts
5 man tactical squad-70
5 man tactical squad-70
thunder fire cannon-100
anouther thunder fire cannon-100
and guess what anouther thunder fire cannon-100
and finally an aegis defence line to hide behind -50
thats my 600 pts
my friends list
using the iron hands chapter tactics: captain with boltgun-90
5 man tactical squad-70
5man tactical squad-70
5 man bike squad with melta gun and flamer
stormtalon with lascannons-140
stormtalon no upgrades-110
thats his total 600pts
i have anti infantry supperiority and he has air supperiority

With the First list..if anyone has any type of Aircraft you are going to be hurting. You have nothing at all capable of damaging an AV11 Flyer. Maybe drop a Thunderfire and get a Hunter/Stalker and add a Lascannon to your Aegis for Air Support. Great list v. Horde Armies...but if any flyers show up

2nd list: looks good. Anti-tank w/ meltagun/Lascannons. Bikers to move up quick and 2 Flyers.

Hi zinogre, I can't say I'm a dedicated marine player, but from general experience I have a couple of things to say about your list. IMHO I don't really see the point of the bikers, they are the only unit that will be leaving the adl and will be unsupported so seems a waste to me, you would probably be better off putting some special/heavy weps in your tac squads. Also you could do with some dedicated anti tank, I know you have your lascannon flyer but if that doesn't come in till turn 3/4 then you could be in trouble. Just my 2cents, let me know what you think.

so its a Double tournament. so yes we do have anti flyer but what would you suggest instead of the bikes

How many points does your bike squad come to? If you dropped those and 1 thunder fire you could probably put plasma/lascannons in your tax squads as you seem to be lacking in they way of ap2 weps and early game anti tank, In fact, I'd probably take missle launchers in your tac squads, that way you still have frag templates and str 8 for transport/light vehicle popping, and you'll probably have enough points left over for something juicy.

Well tbh if you were going to do that I'd take 4 missles, cheaper and more reliable, 4 str 8 shots or 4 blasts, you don't really want to be shooting plasma cannons at what your shooting your multi meltas at, do you know what I mean? Obviously it's your decision but I would stress putting some weps in your tac squads with the points left over, even Flamers would work as it would give you that extra punch in overwatch.

IH. Where's the tanks? For a total of 1200 pts you should really have a couple of preds or something in there to take advantage of IH traits.

In your list I'd trade in the tfcs for vindis. BOOM

vindicators are two expensive points wise. so i woudnt be able to take three. besides tfc can now shoot as a barrage letting me hit targets i cannot see. also the storm talons gain the machine empathy as do all three of my tech marines and my master of the forge and my friends captain.
but if vindicators were 100pts and not 125 i would deffinately take it

IIRC vindi's are 115 aren't they, plus extra for the siege shield?

using IH tactics that is a tough nut at 600 points IMHO

Stormtalons probably won't live to see IWND. Besides them you have no av to speak of. This is iron hands isn't it?

yes it is iron hands but they are successor chapters, so they dont adopt the chapters full ideals. My friends army is the iron Jackals( fast moving and determined) and mine are the Iron Smiths (slow cumbersome and potent at long range fire support. )
iron hands just seems fun thats all .
