Well, bought a big army from forgeworld. And got the first infantry 4 models done (about 26 more to go).
I have the first forgeworld book also, and i really like the beat up, battle damage look. So i went with it.
Heres some first of many pics to come.

primed and washed

the biggest pain of this is trimming./basing the gold

And first 4 done (rotor cannons will go on last

Please critque, as i am my own worst critic, I dont want to "over " do it. I would love to hear some "try this", or "you need this" If indeed something is needed. I will say I am not a big fan of the super highlight look. I know a lot of painters, and daemon winners love the big highlights. I Think less highlights is more... Going forward I will be doing a little less "battle damage" per model i think.

Anyway, Enjoy.

Also im leaving the right shoulder blank until the 4th FW book comes out. Some fluff says they had a purple scarab, some just the tactical "Arrow" , if i were a betting man i would say the book will have the roman numeral "XV" on it... And yes the left shoulder white sun is painted.. and my luck they will make the shoulder pad right as i finish my last model, lol. But i didnt want to wait to get started.

Good looking models.

The red/gold with green eyes is a good colour combo. Works really well. The greyish blue bases contrast really well with the models themselves.
I think you've done just enough battle damage per model and personally I agree with you about the highlights. Less is more sometimes.

What else do you have coming?

Thanks, for starters I will go in and add some more depth to the red areas, try some black lining. I went to bed bothered that the Red was just not good enough.

Other then that, i have about 25 more of these guys arming with all sorts of khopesh and halberds.

About 30 henchmen (Prospero/Tizca spire guard)

3 chimeras with Wheel upgrade kits instead of tracks.

Storm Eagle, that will count as a Storm Raven
2 contemptor pattern dreads.

I went back in and black lined/wash a lot of the model to try and add depth and shading. I stepped up a few more staged on the red, i re did the battle damage with black lining first to add depth.

And i have the first 8 models done. These guys will be my "Psycannons" in a 40k game playing greyknights. Or Rotor cannons in a heresy game. Just got to base them, and then moving onto the next batch of guys!

Digging the mass rotar cannons. Are rotar cannons the pre-heresy equivalent of assault cannons?
