Hello, next week I will be playing a 2v2 against tau and pre heresy imperial fists. I play dark eldar and my friend plays a wave serpent heavy eldar list. What kind of gimmicks are we likely to run into? I was rather worried when he mentioned being able to use a super heavy i his army due to forgeworld rules. My army is mainly anti infantry with a few things such as deep striking scourges, and the bikes possibly going anti vehicle if my friend needs it. I do know that the tau player will have a riptide and aegis defense line. Any tips and hints are appreciated

Just thought I'd add, my list isn't super competitive, so no blasterborn or ravagers (although there are some trueborn with dark lances )

Watch fury of the legion, it means space marine squads can effectively double rapid fire in one turn. There are also 10 man squads of entirely plasma. It shouldn't be too hard to beat though as long as you focus on fully killing each squad. Murder the Tau first as they are a far larger threat.

Oh wow, sounds pretty crazy. What about the apparent superheavys?

What point level are you playing?

If he's using the normal force org chart, he has exactly one Lord of War slot if you're playing a 2000+ pts game (as in he would need to have 2000pts all his own), and the Lord of War choice can't be more than 25% of the army's total.

I wouldn't be too worried about them, to be honest. The Primarchs are pretty good, but far from impossible to kill.

Honestly, the Legion list is costlier for small units, but cheaper the more bodies you put in each unit, so the army only start to shine in large games.

Oh, and Legion lists have things called 'Rites of War' which alter the army is some way; Pride of the Legion RoW makes veterans and terminators troops, but if you destroy them all, you get an extra VP. Stuff like that. There's a lot of variety in them, but since its an IF list, they don't have any unique rules all their own so he'll probably be running a vanilla list or using one of the four basic RoW which aren't overly special.

Unless each player is fielding 2000 points or more, he will not have access to the "Lord Of War" FOC slot, which is where Superheavys and Primarchs go for Legion lists.

Your biggest threat will be huge units of marines, and perhaps some artillery you are used to seeing in IG lists. Plan accordingly.
