wargear: sempiternal weave

crypt blade: STR+1 AP2 melee, unweildy

a crypt blade has a built in particle caster

special rules: reanimation protocols,

loyal guard: if a challenge is offered to an overlord or named necron overlord in the cryptguard unit, one of the cryptguard instead may accept the challenge in place of the overlord, note cryptguard may not accept a challenge if there is no overlord in the same unit or may not issue a challenge.

Wow. Just. Wow.

These guys are completely and utterly broken.

Amazing stats? Check.

"Kill everything no matter what and have no drawbacks" weapons? Check. And yes, they have no drawbacks, we're not so stupid to think an unweidly weapon matters in the hands of an I2 Necron. In fact, it does NOTHING to hurt the overall effectiveness of the unit apart from making them hit simultaneously with other unweildly weapons. And I love the +1S and Fleshbane, just so your super special unit can kill anything short of AV14 vehicles.

Back to the drawing board with these.

in what way are they broken!!! they are 50pts each, they have a power axe and pistol with str6 ap 5 a 2+ just like termies ok 2 wounds but the loyal guard rule is not broken in any way its just a rule for them to show how they where just waiting for their overlord to wake up during the great sleep and their loyalty to him. They are not broken

To put it simply, are these really needed? Do they add anything crunchwise? Fluff wise are they different in a meaningful way to Lychguard?

they have termie stats with i2 being crons and ld 10 because they are crons with a 2+coz not like necrons have a 2+ unit


i took away the fleshbane and yes I1 does hurt us, it makes us go slower than we already do, I2 for crons so we go before all thunder hammer terminators etc but I1 means we can be creamed just as bad as we can dish out pain

you tell me looking at that what is broken now please?

sorry i didnt mention these are for my dynasty in games with friends, they replace lychguard for my dynasty

Why not just use Lychguard?

I mean, I make unique units all the time, but they always do *something* that isn't already being done. I don't just take Ork boyz, give them... I dunno, longer ranged shootas or some nonsense, and call it a day.

Edit; With regards to actual OP-ness, I'd start with the re-rollable LoS. No 2+ *anything* in this game should ever be re-rollable. Add the challenge power and now it's almost impossible to hit your character with anything, ever. Your many, many characters who would likely be unstoppable killing machines given your last bunch of threads.

Yeah, pretty much just use Lychguard or Praetorians. *Shrug* These guys don't add anything and I'd never take them over the other two units.

Since when did we discourage people from making their own units because there isn't a 'place' them? Its a proposed rules thread, its counter productive to tell people their idea isn't needed. You want real, fully approved rules? Buy a codex.

As these guys are, they are fine. You even took my advise of making them over costed to start with, usually that means people receive them better. Usually...

Compare these guys to SS/TH termies, and now tell me these guys are OP. All these guys gain is a 5+ feel no pain with the condition that the whole unit isn't dead, + 1 T as well as a ganky challenge mechanic. They lose out on ATSKNF (Means they can be swept), Deep strike, extra strength and concussive effect of thunder hammer, an assault transport, psyker support, good ally opinions, Chapter tacitcs, better character support and not costing 500pts for a full unit (!!!).

The only thing I could suggest is making them T 4, due to making their biggest weakness to be massed firepower and to stop them being OP when used with a res orb. Then you could drop price down to a respectable 40ppm, making them Useable. Think where will these be more useful then wraiths? They are slower, movement and I wise, less attacks with much better Ap. Except this unit will ONLY work as a counter assault unit because it is so slow, and I see no reason to actually put an overlord into this unit because they will never see combat with most armies.

appreciate the comments, and not jumping on the OP bandwagon just because i created the unit, i mean its not like they are a real unit just created for some fun, but some people tend to be too critial as if they will face them but thanks for the advice. More advice like this will make me better at creating units

Stats and wargear look fine except the rerollable LoS.

I have to agree with the rest regarding the role though.

It really is just a Necron Lord with a weaker Warscythe and pistol.
