Death-Dealing Devastator
|
Ok, let's discuss,
GE is having an event on November 30th, read on:
The Force
- Your force is built to 200 points, and can consist of 0-1 Elite, 0-2 Troops, and 0-1 Fast Attack.
- All currently released Codex material is allowed, including supplements like Iyanden and Farsight Enclaves.
- Forge World is not allowed.
- No Allies or Fortifications.
- You must buy whole squads. You may buy the minimum squad size (so, 5 Tactical Marines instead of all 10), and may not buy single models (so no single Harlequins or Lychguard).
- No units may be held in reserve, so no Flyers.
Specialists
You may choose any three models in your Force to be Specialists. These models must be noted on your army roster and may not change between games. Each Specialist may choose one of the following special rules, and you may not choose the same rule twice:
Adamantium Will, Armorbane, Blind, Counter-Attack, Crusader, Eternal Warrior, Fear, Fearless, Feel No Pain, Fleet, Fleshbane, Furious Charge, Hammer of Wrath, Hatred, Hit and Run, It Will Not Die, Monster Hunter, Move Through Cover, Night Vision, Preferred Enemy (everything!), Rage, Rampage, Relentless, Shred, Shrouded, Skilled Rider, Stealth, Strikedown, Stubborn, Tank Hunter
The Leader
You must nominate one non-vehicle model to be your leader. If a non-vehicle unit has a character in it (Exarch, Veteran Sergeant, etc.), they must be your leader. If you have no characters in your units, then the model with the highest LD is your leader. In any case of multiple eligible models, you may choose which is the leader.
You leader gets to roll for advancement after each game, gaining upgrades and new rules for the next battle, and the more enemy models he kills, the better chance you have at getting cool stuff for him!
All your models must be fully built, based, and painted to play in this event! Seriously... 200 points. That's like, a Tac Squad! You could participate with a single 5-man terminator squad even! There's no excuse for not having the models built and painted. We're not asking for works of art, just finished works, so the games are fun and cool to look at for everyone!
This tournament will play six games, and will be over by around 3:30pm! Plenty of time to get in, get some games, and get home!
The Mission: Behind Enemy Lines
This mission is played on a 4x4 table and includes a single (mysterious) objective in the center of the board as the primary objective. The game ends when one player is wiped out or the 30 minute time limit is reached. The scenario uses the Night Fighting special rules.
Deployment is table quarters, and all models in a force must be deployed at the beginning of the game. This includes models like Daemons and Drop Pods. These are assumed to have already arrived.
Primary objective = 5 VPs
Opposing player has no models left on the board = 3 VPs
Force the opposing player to take a break test = 2 VPs
Kill the enemy Leader = 2 VPs
Kill an enemy Specialist = 1 VP
First Blood = 1 VP
Linebreaker = 1 VP
And here's where it gets fun, the scenario special rules!
Every Man For Himself - Every model acts as a separate unit in this scenario! They may split their shooting and close combat attacks freely between all eligible targets.
Take the Loot! - All non-vehicle models are scoring units, and all models are denial units.
The Break Test - When a force is reduced to half its starting number of models or less, the player must take a leadership test on the highest LD of models still alive on the board. If he fails, his Kill Team flees the field and all remaining models are removed from the board. If the test is passed, then the force fights on for one more round, but must test at the beginning of each of the player's turns.
Transports - You may buy transports for units, but as soon as the models disembark, they become single-model units as explained in the Every Man For Himself rule above.
Unit Upgrades - If a character (like an Exarch or Veteran Sergeant) buys an upgrade, only he will benefit from it. If a unit buys an upgrade (combat drugs, psybolt ammo, etc.), all models benefit bought as part of that unit benefit from it.
So dust off some old minis, start a small new force, or take a hand at 40k for the first time! This event promises to be a blast!
So I am so jazzed about this. I am thinking of bringing a Paladin and an Interceptor squad. Of course, I would need to give them psy-bolts as a minimum.
What would you bring?
