After reading the Horus Heresy Books that contain stories of the Raven Guard I fell in love with their fluff. So I am looking to start a RG TAC list, that stands a competitive chance and also utilizes their tactics as much as possible. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I really start spending money to get models that I don't already have.

1850 points:

HQ:

Captain: bike, relic blade, artificer armor, auspex, melta bomb - 165 pts
Chaplain: jump pack, melta bombs - 110 pts

Elites:

Legion of the damned x 6 : melta, multi-melta, combi-melta, power sword - 195 pts
Sterngaurd Vets x6 : 4 x combi-grav, razorback assault cannon - 257 pts
Vanguard Vets x 8 : 2 LC, 1 PF, 2 SS, 1 PM, jump packs - 266 pts

Fast:

Stormtalon Gunship: skyhammer missle - 125 pts
Stormtalon Gunship: skyhammer missle - 125 pts

Troops:

Scout x 5: Land speeder storm w/ MM- 110 pts
Scout x 5: Land speeder storm w/ MM- 110 pts
Tactical Marines x 10: grav gun, combi-grav, rhino - 200 pts
Bike squad x 6: 2 x grav guns, melta bombs, PF - 186 pts

Now from my point of view, outside of the Stormraven, none of the heavy support choices really blended with the image of the Raven Guard in my head so I am avoiding them if possible.

Tactics:
This army really makes use of the first Chapter tactic with all but the Vanguard Vets (make use of the 2nd tactic), Storm Talon Gunships, and the LoD. They will be able to deploy forward and close with the enemy very fast getting to optimal shooting range or assault. The scout squads will tend to go in reserves for late game objective grabbing as it dumps scouts for the hold. If not they will outflank and go vehicle or MC hunting. The sternguard and tac marines will screen the bikes with the rhino and razorback first turn as they are pretty expendable. The van guard vets will start on the board most of the time acting as a fire magnet and closing for hth as fast as possible (possible with some luck for a first turn charge). The legion is there for late game tarpit and vehicle and mc killing. they will also play back field harassment. The storm Talons are AA and light vehicle killing support.
The chaplain goes w/ the vanguard vets.
The captain goes with the bikes.

Over all I feel this list covers most bases pretty well and sticks to the fluff of the RG with the quick decisive strike from the shadows and points unknown. The list puts out enough AP 2 and 3 shots to handle hard units. It packs decent anti-tank. It has AA capability. It can put out a lot of shooting to handle horde armies. It has a very solid hth unit and the bike squad can handle itself decently with the captain in hth. There is also a fair bit of ignores cover shooting to dig enemy troops off objectives w/ sternguard and LoD. There are 4-5 scoring units for objective games, granted 2 of them are pretty soft but reserves or going to ground can help them stick around a bit.

So without further rambling from me, I would love to hear what everyone's thoughts and critique are.

Thank You.
