I think most people would have a serious problem against two 50 man melee blobs at 1500 points. Thoughts? ... apparently i'm bad at math and the first list is only at 1420 points instead of 1490

Your weakness
GREEN TIDE.. cause they will out number you and they hit harder and more often in close combat
ORK Wagon Rush..Cause you wont be able to touch them till after they are rolling over you with Deffrollas then they will jump out and out number you and they hit harder and more often in close combat
IG Leafblower..cause it brings the pain and they dont have to move to have you in range

Long story short you need a bit more ranged heavy hitting
At 1500 to keep the flavor of the list I would swap one of the short platoons for a second Vendetta and call it good ..
Going to 1850 for Grand tourney I would add a third vendetta and the short platoon back in and at least two battle preists

Yep thats the Ticket ..keeps the flavor and is not hampered by lack of ranged fire power
Still kinda curious as to the reasoning for the power axes thou ? as opposed to other power weapons

Priests are an aweful waste of points IMO. I would drop the priests, replace a lord comm with a regular commissar. No power axe or melta bomb on the commissars, so you don't feel pressured to use them. That gives you an extra 225 Pts. Griffons, Plasmavets in AC Chimeras are good options.

To be honest i like it a lot and find this list could be reasonably efficient. Priests wont be a waste in 50men blobs

Power Axes give +1 strength and ap 2 .... sword is just user str ap 3, giving all of the sergeants / commissars power axes will let them shred through almost anything in CC, what they can't down with str 4 ap 2 attacks (MCS / Mech) they have melta bombs for. On a 50 man blob the priests are a good investment ... and why would I not pay 15 pts per commissar for a power axe / bombs when they do not have to accept challenges? Since the list revoles around the two 50 man guard blobs I think the lord commissars extra ld is worth taking (and the priests for the reroll) 2 instead of swapping them out imo.

100 dudes of IG trying to close combat? Enemies will easily avoid such bulky formation and will destroy other things (Vendettas, acutocannons, aegis qud gun) and then finish off remaining mob by shooting.
I recommend to put in platoons many heavy weapons (lascannons,autocannons,HB). So you can shoot every turn. And if enemies will try to assault You have flamers and axes to hth combat. If they will not assault - just continue to shoot.
