I know nothing about Space Marines, i have never liked Space Marines in any way, I have never used space marines and i have never looked in their codex before.

So i have been eyeing up these guys

Boy are these amazing looking models. I dont know anything about the Space Marine HQ or troops but i want an allied detachment of an HQ and 1 troop choice for my Imperial Guard. Preferably Melee orientated units.

Any suggestions. Money is nor an issue and points is well i dont know how many points to expect them to take up so any info and suggestions about my options would be great.

You play guard and you've never even looked at a marine codex before?! How did that happen? Anyhow, I love those models too but finding a singe troop choice that will fit the same look will be trickier. I'd go with some lightening claw terminators personally. If you're only going to have one, why not go for one of the best. I'd get the codex though, it's pretty cool, although it being a kiwi you get gouged even more on prices than us! As for hq I usually use Tigrus because he can get the best rolls for choosing psychic powers and his abilities are great for buffing units.

Yes i know but i have hated marine models since the minute i got into it. Refused to do anything with them haha except i have played against BT and BA before.

So there are no terminator like troops? what troop choices do they get?

I was thinking (buy just looking at id4chan) taking a generic terminator leader, an assault terminator squad with thunder hammers and storm shield and a cheap troops choice.

Go for DA allies, take Belial then you get Termies as troops. Or go GK.

That doesn't work. Belial can make termies troops only in his primary detachment.

If your meta allows Forge World, look into Charcaradons rules. They have Tyberos who allows a single terminator squad armed fully with LCs to be troops, as well as giving Tactical squads acess to CCW for 1pt or for free if they exchange their bolter. Space Shark Tactics also give the detachment Fear and if they destroy a unit or cause it to fall back from combat, they gain Rage. And, when Tyberos does this, he and every model in the detachment suffering from Rage gains +1Str. Its a highly CC orientated Chapter, with reflection in the rules. Tyberos is slightly fragile but he's tougher than before with 4Wounds, and now has a mighty 6(!) attacks on the charge, and can freely split between a Lightning Claw and Chainfist.

I Agree with deadshot, the Carcharadons rules looked pretty gnarly. Uber-cheap cc-oriented killy marines: what's not to like?

If you really really want Termie troops as allies, go GK. You can put a cheap Inquisitor HQ in Termie armor, and slap him into a 10-man Terminator squad with two Psycannons. Get Psybolt ammo, Cast Prescience, and watch something evaporate within 24" each turn, particularly if you get them in range to charge the remnants of whatever they just shot.

He's right, Carcharodons treat all allies asDesperate, but with the Primary detachment a shooty gunline like Guard, and the Carcharadons an up-close, in your face CC force, they should rarely be within 6"

I intend to use these guys as fanatical marines who want nothing more than do die in a fight and get in there and hack things up so no they wont be within 6" of my guys that is for sure.
