This might be a dumb question, but can you move and fire heavy flamers still? I thought that they were heavy weapons, so you couldn't, but I've been reading Army lists and bat reps that make it seem like people can.

Thanks!

Look at the weapon's profile. Is it Heavy or Assault?

It looks like a heavy weapon.
It even has "heavy" in it's name.
It's taken in place of a heavy weapon as a squad upgrade.

In pretty much every way is looks and sounds like a heavy weapon. But it is, in fact, and assault weapon. Sneaky little bugger, aint it.

Heavy flamers are assault weapons.

Assault cannons are heavy weapons.

Thank you for clarifying that for me!

Follow up question, in 5th edition was it classified as a heavy or assault weapon? I thought it was heavy then, but I may have been wrong about that too.

I don't think the Heavy Flamer has ever been a Heavy weapon. :p Certainly not 5th, 4th, or 3rd...

And farther back, I just checked my RT and 2nd ed stuff. It had neither the "slow" or "move or fire" tags from those editions.

You also drive in a parkway and park in a driveway. :-P

OT - Yes, it is an assault weapon and VERY vile on Salamander Sternguard out of Drop Pods.

And cargo travels by ship, whereas shipment goes by car.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Too bad they are insanely expensive for the IG, or I'd be spamming the check out of them.

I play Nids. Even one Flamer is too many...

My SoB could use more of them too. It's not too many games ago I blew up three Dark Eldar Raiders with them (two in one template even). They also do very nice things to Tau Firewarriors.... prophetic unit name, that. :-)

Which just highlights my mentality as a Tau player: If your troops are in template range, they are too close to the enemy!

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

Going back far enough, it didn't actually matter, since they were only available to Terminators or vehicles anyway.

Not actually true.

Also, imagine having to move your heavy flamers into template range, and then letting your opponent have a turn to move away before you roast them!
