Hey Everyone,

I was planning on getting a Cutter but noticed I can't use it in MO secretorial so this made me look into the Seraph a bit. First being new to Infinity I dont have a good grasp of how to get as much info as possible about upcoming releases. I looked at our news thread and at the infinity forum and only found the artwork release. Any sense of when to expect this model?

Also I noticed some folks thinking this will be a great TAG. Despite being new I wasn't sure if it was the Auxbot or the point cost? To me it looks like a close combat oriented TAG with a spitfire. That part didnt impress me as much. What do we expect from it's utility compared to current PANO options?

cheers

Palmer

No one can say for sure, but it should be about the same place the Geckos are in production. So some time next year, likely late summer to winter.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

The Seraph isn't out yet, and we don't know when it's slot on the release schedule is.

But as far as stats, the Seraph is decidedly mediocre, in a faction of AMAZING TAG options.

It compares poorly to the YuJing O-Yoroi, which has superior primary and secondary weapons, as well as a superior companion option (Koalas are awesome).

It's not as good as a light close attack TAG than PanO's Toni Macayana Ace Tikbalang, which has the amazingly powerful Climbing+ and landmines, as well as Mimetism, that costs very similar.

It's not as good as a general attack unit as the Jotum, the most cost effective heavy armor (Arm10!) TAG in the game.

It's not as horrifyingly scary as the Cutter, which is a medium TAG with TO camo.

The Seraph's main advantage is lower cost, but PanO has lots of other powerful units in similar price ranges, such as the Swiss Guard, or a horde of Bulleteer attack drones. It's main use seems to be to serve as the Military Order's only TAG option.

Thanks for the info! You confirmed my suspicion. I will likely get it anyway to run with MO but I think I may get the Jothum for my first TAG. Mainly because I really like the model but also I don't want to piss off the guys I play with if I get a cutter lol....

Further along than the Gecko, last I heard.

Bear in mind that the Seraph and Clausewitz Uhlan are a very similar chassis and both are set to be released "early to mid 2014 at the soonest".
Geckos are just tentatively scheduled for 2014 from what I understand.

It's main advantage is that it's the one tag that the MOs can take.
Besides, when most of your HI are the CC guys, the TAG is there for close-in firepower support.

If playing Vanilla, there are better options.
If playing ASA - you don't get the seraph, and there are better options.
If playing Neoterra, you don't get the seraph, but you have other options anyway.

Considering the OP hints that he plays MO (I didn't go with a Cutter because they can't take one) I think it's fair to assume he doesn't really want to know how the Seraph stacks up against other PanO tags. The fact it's the only TAG MO can take means, if he wants a TAG, he's going to need to go with the Seraph.

TBH in a sectorial with the kind of HI that MO brings, I can't really justify that seraph. as Killionaire wrote, we have lots of other things in that price range as a faction, and that sectorial has the (a lot of) the cream of them (I'll keep my swiss guard though, thankyouverymuch! )

Hey, sometimes you just want to take a TAG.

I am playing MO but planning on using a generalist list at one point as well. I think in the meantime I am going to get a jothum when I start a generic list.

If you play on religious card, the Seraph could be interesting in the general force. You also have Guarda de Assalto, which would help to get through heavily controlled area with his Zero Visibility smoke. Though I'll agree that there are better options, my favourite being Armoured Cavalry. Multi HMG and lieutenant option is hard to top.

It's just one of those little joys. Sure, you can usually find something for the same amount of points that will do the job better than a TAG, but this is Infinity.

If you can't throw in a giant robot with huge guns strapped to it occasionally to blow apart enemies... what's the point?

I could swear that you used to be able to choose Jotums with military orders - has that changed, or am I going nuts?

I think you were just going nuts.
Nothing in the HS MO list allowing it and I got my copy when it was released.

Sounds like wishful thinking - but I like where your head is at!

You'll just have to join me in waiting for the Svalarheima Sectorial...

Plus the Jotum is a joy to paint.

Even if I've never had it survive past turn one. Good times!

We get one of our best 2nd-line medium infantry unit?

We get our toughest, beefiest TAG?

COOL!

...what else do we get?

Q: What do you call a Dinosaur Handpuppet?

Probably some Fusilier unit with cold weather gear as the AVA: Total unit, Nisses with AVA 5, Jotum, and some other fun units.

Sounds about right!

It wouldn't shock me to get some Fusilier analogue with some sort of terrain skill too though...

Well yeah, that's a given. I shouldn't have said cold weather gear without adding "Climbing"

Would not be surprised to see them with Marksman Rifles either as the Marksman Rifle entry specifically states that the development is partially in response to the engagement ranges of combat on Svalarheima.

You're getting me more psyched for the Svalarheima Sectorial, dammit!

Damn.. disappointed to hear it was just my mental state slipping!

Thought the style of the Jotum really suited the MO, although hopefully the Seraph will be made with that in mind when it does arrive.

The Svalarheima Sectorial does sound very cool though - Jotum and snow-themed bases!

I'd like to see alternative Fusiliers, winter suits and similar gear. It's kinda hard to imagine current Fusiliers in Arctic climate.

It would be interesting to see Marksman rifle on PanO unit, perhaps on a new LI, alternatively we'll have few Aleph units to fill the gap.

Could we get them with St-Bernard companions, too? Cyber-dogs with a smart gun on their backs. Or they could act as remote minelayers. Or mountain goats. They'd have climbing plus, of course.
