Okay, I don't play Nilla marines so take what I say with a grain of salt, not as the gospel truth.

Tiggy is good

Multimeltas on Tacs are not good. Might want to look into different heavy weapons. LCs seem to be popular

Combat squad, leave the LC on an obj and put a Flamer/Plas/Gravy in the rhino with the sarge, combi version of the same spec weapon

Put Sternguard with combi meltas and Dreads with multimeltas in pods. Take one Tac squad with a pod, leave the pod in reserve, but put the squad on the table. That way your "half rounding up" includes both of your suicide units, on a later turn, you can drop the pod to block LOS/charges/movement

I know this for sure, small assault squads are not worth taking. If your regular opponents take lots of long fangs or other such units, a small unit of Vanguard Vets can be good. Other than that, you have to absolutely spam ASM to get your money's worth

Your Scout Squad is good and well loaded out. Don't change them

Try to take a Terminator Assault squad with a Sarge with TH/SS, two grunts with TH/SS and two grunts with dual LC. Gives you a good mix of AP, attacks, strengths and durability. Don't take 10. Take a Transport such as a Storm Raven or Land Raider or they won't make it to close combat. A Termy armored HQ unit could do them a world of good unless you put them in a regular ol LR in which case you don't have the room. (You don't want to do that anyway, the Godhammer pattern is schizophrenic)

I have heard nothing about Legion of the Damned. Could be good, could not. All I know is they're "overcosted" but I play BA so everything is overcosted to me.

Uh, that just about sums it up. So as for buying new models: Sternguard, Land Raider or Storm Raven (your choice), maybe another rhino, bits to turn your tac squads into coherent, well equipped fighting units. That's about it. You have a good base to build on. Just flush it out, restructure it and go kick some xeno/heretic/mutant ass.

Oh and Whirlwinds are really hit or miss. YMMV but a Thunderfire Cannon is generally regarded as a better pick. Might want to pick one of those up too

Also in the desert

Consider Thunderfire Cannons and Grav weapons. TFC now has barrage and therefore no longer needs line of sight to fire at targets plus you can give any terrain (excluding fortifications) in your deployment zone a +1 cover save. That combos pretty well with your scouts. That being said, cover saves aren't what they were two years ago. Grav weapons can really put the hurt on MEQ and terminators. Popular platforms for Grav weapons include bike squads, centurions and command squads on bikes. Take a look at the FAQ for the new codex. The main and only entry concerns command squad veterans. They can all take special weapons just like the previous codex.

Some form of anti-air may be in order. Bocatt mentioned Storm Ravens which are pretty darn solid. I also agree with his comments regarding the terminator squad, drop it to a five man and try to get some way to haul them around if you're going to use them at all. The new Stalker is decent AA platform for its cost and it's good vs skimmers.

Welcome back!
