Hey guys,

Tried my first lot of camo and just want to see what you think. Sadly I don't have the correct colours so had to make do with gw paints.

Cheers

Looks great.

I think you'll find that nobody cares if your camo is 100% correct for the time period your list is supposed to be from.

I also use GW paints.

German camo was often locally applied so near enough anything goes.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Yup look at any history book about Wermacht armour for that period, you will find a massive variety of colour schemes and variations. In fact, I'm sure I've seen something similar to that (certainly in terms of pattern, if not colour).

Looks very good actually! Hard to tell with the photo, but you should get out some weathering powders and dirty it up a bit

Thanks guys, after a bit of reading it turns out the troops were issued a reddish brown so changed the colour slightly. Will weather it up once I get some decals on just doing the same for my stuGs as they weren't very good.

The actual camo itself is pretty much open to interpretation, as the German armour tended to arrive in dungelgelb, the remaining 2 colours were generally added by troops in the field so there's huge variation in terms of patterns etc.

Actually, from August 1944, three tone schemes were factory applied, on manufacture... indeed you can tell a vehicles place of origin by its scheme.

That said, troops still repainted things, so much variation did exist.

You might want to lightly drybrush with the original yellow base colour to blend the camo a little and show wear and tear.

Like the StuGs.

Ahh good shout on the drybrush, I was thinking of ways to make it look less painted on....if you know what I mean.

Very nice, German Units were given tremendous freedom in their camouflage, usually based on time and paint available rather than any particular prescriptive "Laid down" camo - Big P's Comments nonewithstanding you can get away with alot maybe not purple .

There were common ones, but the Wehrmacht and SS were so desperate for Equipment they wouldn't turn a Vehicle away for having a "Non-Standard" paint job!

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!
