hi guys, i hope this post is appropriate for the topic, that's the point: I'm a space wolves player and in a 1000p list i'd like to use a couple of vindicators. I browsed gw shop and i saw whey are at 45 euros but they rly look like a rhino (25 euros) with a cannon.. the question is that, if i modify my rhino with a homemade cannon, or using a leman russ' one, and i close rhino's doors and stuff, can i use it as a vindicator? i rly run out of money and i hope that would be possible cause will save me 20 euros, that is almost the price of an other rhino... if a judge or anyone that's used to refer on ufficial tournament could help me with a sure answer i'd rly appreciate

Really it comes down to how well it's modified and looks like a vindicator. The Vindicator itself IS a rhino chassis with a new bits set sprue. Some TOs are ok with one offs, some aren't. One avenue you could also check is try and find someone to trade with or a bits seller, and you can get just the cannon/dozer blade itself.

Thanks , i was wondering if the body was the same, do you think i can use a cannon from a leman russ in substitution of the vindicator one? I saw that there is one that looks really similar, the "chubby" one XD, and maybe i could create a dozer blade from a piece of plexiglass or similar plastic, does anyone have any advice or idea to give me about the creationof those parts?

The cannon i have to build needs to move just like the vindicator's one or can be blocked/glued to the surface?

Really the modelling is completely up to you man, on whether it moves or not etc, etc. In regards to scratchbuilding I'm rubbish, but I would definitely recommend trying to make it as true to the original as possible if you're going to try and use it in Tournament.

I have three types of Rhino mods.

1: Magnatized Predator components.
2: Razorback components (doors glued).
3: Hunter/Stalker components.

I make the Vindicators a non-swappable kit simply because it's just easier to do it this way. I separate the Predators from the Razorbacks because I don't want to fiddle around making "plugs" to hold the doors in the same spot the sponsons get held.

Making a swap able vindicator is doable.

i just swapshoped one to see how traceoftoxin did one.

Generally speaking its ok so long as it looks distinct enough with the weapons and armor in the right place.

I made my Rhino a modular turret so that it can become a super cheap Predator. I'm sure someone with more skill could do the other variants. CSM doesn't get a whole pile of tanks, but you could go nuts with a SM Rhino chassis. Hell that's what the Techpriests have been doing for centuries!

Typically tournaments go with the WYSIWYG rule so look ate the vindicator cannon and model as close to that as you can. Doesn't matter the location to do conversions. But that's what I have known for pervious tournaments.
