Glorious Lord of Chaos

The burning pits of Hades, also known as Sweden in summer

Helloooooooo friends. A month or two ago I picked up 40K again after a break, with renewed vigour and interest. I decided to keep adding to my small Chaos Space Marines force, the Glacier Serpents. Until recently they were but a single squad and a Chaos Lord, not much to look at, but after a few additions they are now at 3404 points, assuming fluffy and WYSIWYG equipment. Most of it is not painted, but I am working on it. The pictures of the old squad and Lord is already here on Dakka, admittedly with rather poor images so they look like porridge either way, but I plan to start uploading more pictures of my Marines as I go.

I won't go into great detail on the (rather massive) fluff I have written for them and their relations to the armies of my local 40K group, this is a forum for P&M and not background after all. But, imagine it like this. In my view, there are two kinds of Chaos Space Marine armies. There is "metal" chaos, and there is "tentacle" chaos. What each type includes should be quite clear! In any case, the Glacier Serpents are definitely "metal" chaos.

Now, I am on my laptop and here I do not have all my pictures, but I can show you a few things. First, here is a picture of their colour scheme, made with bolter and chainsword:

Spoiler:

Unfortunately, B&C can't quite represent the "redmetal" on the trims. Instead, here is a picture from Dawn of War II that more accurately shows it; indeed, it was in DoWII that I first developed the colour scheme. Indeed, my avatar picture is coloured this way as well.

Spoiler:

How do you like the colours, Dakka?

I will begin posting pictures tomorrow, when there is light so that I can take decent pictures. I have finally managed to get hold of a decent camera!

The majority of my army is WIP. Currently I am building a squad of tallscaled Chosen, a technique that I got from Veteran Sergeant's P&M blog and that I will use for all future Glacier Serpents models; however, it will not be used for my Renegade Squads.

Pictures thou hath been promised, and pictures thou shalt be given.

I have 4048 points of Glacier Serpents in varying stages of completion, so I won't post them all at once; here's just a few of them.

Here is my full army list so far:

Chaos Terminator Lord - Painted
5 Chaos Terminators - Primed
Sorcerer - Primed
Dark Apostle - Primed
Jump Pack-Chaos Lord - Primed
Counts-as Khârn - Primed
3 Bikers - Assembled
10 Raptors - Primed
10 Raptors - Primed
26 Cultists - Primed
7 Havocs - Primed
10 Chosen - Partially assembled
10 Chosen - Painted
10 CSM - Primed
10 CSM - Primed
5 Possessed - Assembled
Vindicator - Painted
Rhino - Painted
Rhino - Assembled
Defiler - Primed

First, Chosen Squad Kira, 'The Ascended'. These guys are reeeeeally old and I now use a different technique for both the white and the redmetal, but they are still my only completed multi-model squad as of yet.

Next up, we have my good ol' Lord Kraxis. Only slightly younger model than Squad Kira, but he has stood the test of time far better since I bullied my older brother into painting him.

Here is my Vindicator, the Dragonroar.

My first Rhino, Cage of Fury.

My Havocs, Squad Razelikh. Very heavily kitted out, every heavy weapons guy has a pistol, a bolter, a combat blade, extra ammunition and grenades as well as his heavy weapon. Shame I assembled them before I learned of true-scaling, they look a little cluttered now and I think making them taller would help with that. They have Chaos Icons, which I represent in-game with Mark of Nurgle. Anyone who has played Space Marine the computer game can probably figure out why!

I find that head swaps help a lot with the cringeworthiness of some CSM models. Just look at Skarlos the Corrected and Raptor Lord Thakar after I've given them some nice helmets!

And fiiiinally, to the good part. My current project is tallscaling the Fatewalkers, a squad of Chosen. I learned the technique from Veteran Sergeant's P&M blog, as said above. The squad will be led by a DV Bolter-equipped chosen. I will cheat by putting him on a high base, making him as tall as the others by actual tallscaling as above my level!

First out is Brother Zelroth.

Next out, Brother Draegan.

Following them is brother Mitrik.

Finally, Brother Nadir.

Looking good! I'm glad you were able to find some success with the technique so far.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

Behold, Lord Kharaxx, the Glacier Serpents' Master of Berzerkers! (Counts-as-Khârn)
