So got a small tourny coming up this weekend and thought I would use something other then daemons (been playing only daemons since the dex was released).
Buffmander, PEN MSS CNC VRT, two shield drones
Riptide, IA FB EWO VT
Riptide, IA FB EWO VT
Riptide, IA SMS EWO
10 Kroot, hound
10 Kroot, hound
10 Kroot, hound
Skyray BSF
Aegis Lascannon
Farseer, Runes of warding, shard and jetbike
3 Windriders
3 Windriders
9 Dark Reapers, both missile profiles, exarch with fast and marksmen eye, in
Wave Serpent with holo fields and scatter laser.
Basically the idea is quality of shots rather then quanity, troops are weak which is a worry but if I go eldar primary I lose the mass ap2 which the riptides provide, reapers provide very good ap3 and should take down a wraithknight a turn and a tank a turn or death to marines thanks to the buffmander. With farseer I can guide and prescience two of the tides per turn.
Opinions?

Well, you have some points spare, so go ahead and trick out the buffmander even more. The iridium armor is great, and considering it will be your warlord you want it. Another criminally cheap option is the neuroweb system jammer. Always take it if you have the points. Consider moving a velocity tracker to the HBC riptide. Guided, this makes for one nasty AA unit. Get a disruption pod for your skyray. The farseer does not need runes of warding, and could probably toss the shard(fearless is nice, but not that nice). I take it he goes with a riptide? Reaper exarch does not need marksmans eye, and I take it the commander is with them for night vision if they need it? You probably got the serpent to get a serpent, but you can use it to hide the reapers if you don't get first turn, preventing them from getting shot off the board.

Ah it was a quick list, the buffmander indeed has the irdium armour and think I did spend the two whole pts for neuroweb as well.
I have been thinking about HBC over a burst, with SMS as well so a anti horde one, just I know of at least two ovesa stars which will be going so think I need plently of ap2.
As for runes of warding, I also know of one screamerstar going as well, def will be fight of the deathstars at this one!.
I got the serpent just to hide the reapers and suprise people with 6 inch move, 6 inch disembark and 48inch range, buff mander and farseer goes with tide each at deployment and join the reapers my turn 1.
I do want the reapers to be fearless as against some opponents they will be behind the aegis and therefore near the board edge in most cases due to their range. Against the ovesa stars I think he will go with a tide though.

I would recommend at least one HBC Riptide just in case you fight a horde army or something with fliers. As Dr. Serling said earlier, it rips through fliers. You could also use it to kill the shield drones/mass wounds on O'Vesa stars.

Ok, here is my critique of this list. Overall, it is very strong, but could use some tweaks.
MarkyMark wrote:So got a small tourny coming up this weekend and thought I would use something other then daemons (been playing only daemons since the dex was released).
Buffmander, PEN MSS CNC VRT, two shield drones
I'm assuming he has Iridium. If not, then get it.
Riptide, IA FB EWO VT
Riptide, IA FB EWO VT
Riptide, IA SMS EWO
Personally, I prefer 2 HBC + 1 IA. At the very minimum, I'd get at least 1 HBC + EWO/VT.
10 Kroot, hound
10 Kroot, hound
10 Kroot, hound
Skyray BSF
Aegis Lascannon
Good. Get disruption pods for your skyray.
Farseer, Runes of warding, shard and jetbike
IMO, Runes is not necessary. But if you've got the spare points, then its ok.
3 Windriders
3 Windriders
Good.
9 Dark Reapers, both missile profiles, exarch with fast and marksmen eye, in
Wave Serpent with holo fields and scatter laser.
Honestly, I'm not a big fan of this unit. I don't think you need that many reapers. I'd probably go no more than 5-7. Make them too big and they become too easy of a target because of their relative lack of mobility (from fast assault units). I'm in the camp that more units = better. Perhaps reduce the unit and use the extra points to get some warp spiders or another skyray/hammerhead. My opponent and GT winner, Mortetvie, does very well with just 1 unit of 5 reapers. Also, you can probably drop Marksmen Eye if you're short on points. Then again, he runs a Spiritseer and with Conceal, the unit becomes very tough to shoot down when behind the Aegis.
But just without any changes, it is already a very good list and most opponents will have problems fighting against it.
BTW, if you really are concerned about enemy riptides (and in particular, the Ovesa-star) or screamerstar, then you should consider dropping the reaper-star for a Wraithknight and some missile-sides. The WK is a good deterent for both of those units.

I agree with JY2 on pretty much everything.
I'd go with only one HBC, though, and I'd also drop the shield drones from the Commander. They have their uses, absolutely, but without them you are more flexible to join Riptides without lowering majority toughness.
And just in case you haven't already thought of it; keep the Farseer with a Riptide close to the Reapers behind the Aegis. If the Reapers are shot, go to ground for that sweet 2+, and then in your turn move the Farseer over to join them so they get back up. Good times.

So one extra skyray and 6 hawks for back field fun, either that or 3 broadsides with 4 missile drones and drop something else.

Well, I'd take 3 Warwalkers with scatterlasers instead of DRs. They could be guided by the Farseer. Moreover, I'd give each Windrider squad a shuricannon.

Then it drops the ap3 and loses good anti marines, anti wraithknight and anti tank for massed shooting. If you read my first post you know why I am not doing this

Still, I think that (guided) Warwalkers with scatterlasers would serve you better. Marines will get cover saves when targeted by Dark Reapers. If not, the opponent should rethink about his tactics.

Nope, not with a buffmander in there (hence the monster/tank hunter and re roll to hit). Farseer can guide/prescience two of the tides.

The usefullness of Dark Reapers seems to be overestimated here.

Dark Reapers with an allied BuffCommander to tank is a very effective unit. 8 with Exarch will kill a Wriathknight in a round of shooting despite cover. I would recommend Stim Injectors on the Buffcommander. With cover and FNP he can tank a tremendous amount of shots for the Reapers.
Mortevie uses them to great effect.

Ended up taking this Buffmander, PEN CNC MSS VRT (forgot!) Irdium armour and FNP Riptide, IA SMS EWO Riptide IA SMS EWO Riptide IA FB EWO VT 10 Kroot Hound 10 Kroot Hound 10 Kroot Hound Skyray BSF Skyray BSF Skyshield Farseer, jetbike Shard of Anaris 3 Windriders 3 windriders 8 Reapers with both missiles, Exarch with fast shot marksmen eye reaper launcher both missiles Wave Serpent, scatter laser, holo fields Won the first game against random opponent using a non competitve daemons list, lost a jetbike in that. Second game against beast pack, he deployed on the line (hammer and anvil), I deployed on the line going first, hoping to move shoot and jump back, got seized on and really screwed my plans up, ended up winning turn 5 and 6 then rushed to do turn 7 and ended up losing but should have been a draw. Third game against 2 WK's, Riptide, reaperstar with eldrad and skyshield, jetbikes and wave serpent with DA's in. Lost a riptide, 4 kroot and 3 jetbikes (damn ld test after losing 1 LOL). Tabled him turn 4. Overall, not bad, troops are def the weak side of this list, rippies did good, not so much in game 2 after losing one to terrify without even taking a poxy wound!. But getting seized on by a beast pack which deployed to seize and yes he had fortune!. To pull that back against a good player was good and to end up winning turn 5 and 6 was even better, that was dare I say down to generalship rather then lists (and a fortuned riptide tanking like a beast! haha). We should be seeing a bat rep from Mark Kelly soon on this game . Normal games here and 1850 and below so would this work at 1850?, not 100% sure as troops are weak, I could run the same ish list dropping few pts here and there, the skyrays and getting 50 kroot in there but still, needed to make 3 ld tests and failed everyone first time! damn my good rolling dice. Are FW's going to be much better? I think not. Cannot do buffmander with the farsight dex either. Reapers, well they killed and overkilled everything they shot at, from a prince with the mace (turn 1 on the floor), GUO, soul grinder, 2 WK's, wave serpent, few venoms etc, did they earn their pts back? in games 1 and 3 yes, game 2 they were deployed too close, should have deployed inside the WS (which immobilsed itself trying to come off the skyshield turn 1 LOL!) but deploying for first turn and getting seized on is just something you have to live with i think.
