Put simply, does the Codex: Inquisition version of Hammerhand apply like the Codex: Grey Knights version in regard to StrX2 weapons (i.e. - (S + 1) x 2 versus (S x 2) +1).

Because if it's the former over the latter... Str 10 Thunderhammers are now a possibility for C:SM, something I find VERY enticing.

It should work as you're describing, but I think there's a much easier way to achieve what you're looking for: rad grenades.

...of course, there's no reason you can't bring both and use them to instant death T6 targets...

Looking at the language of Codex: Inquisition, it does not have the note that Codex:Grey Knights has where it specifically calls out the +1S as being counted before other bonuses like Daemonhammers.

Without this express note, I'd have to say that no, the Inquisition Hammerhand doesn't get doubled by Powerfists or whatever, but is instead applied afterwards. Still not bad at all though. S9 Thunderhammers, etc. Still use them with Rad Grenades, or just Rad Grenades if you want Divination powers.

There's no reason for it to work differently than the GK version.

Really? You don't think precedent from the other codex holds? That'd be rather unusual. Almost like if they changed ATSKNF and didn't make it retroactive for previous marine codices. By RAW, I think you can certainly argue that point, but I think the intent here was relatively clear...

Rad grenades affect enemy toughness, no? I'm looking at strength multiplication on friendly models.

Also, Hammerhand brings the Burning Blade to that oh-so-important S8 breakpoint. Something to consider, I think.

Just remember that the Inquisitor is an allied infantry model without access to a jump pack or bike. If you intend to get this unit into close combat, you'll need to do so without the benefit of transports and with the rear end of the unit moving at 6" per turn.

Yeah, the logistics of pulling off a Hammerhand on SM models would be tricky. Off the top of my head, a tag-team of LR assault squads could do it. Inq squad with a Crusader/DCA/Priest mix and the Inquisitor in theirs, SM Hammernators in theirs. Converge, get out, Inquisitor swaps over to join the Hammernators on the disembark.

Sounds like more trouble than it's worth, but I can dream!

I think you could probably get away without using two land raiders. What if you took a squad of henchmen (5 DCA, 5 Crusaders, 2 Priests), put the inquisitor in the squad with them, then ride your Chapter Master along side them in a bike squad?

When you think you can get into assault range, the henchmen and inquisitors disembark and the Chapter Master leaves his Bike squad to join the Henchmen squad. The combined unit can then rush into assault together, while the bike squad rides off to shoot something else.

Edit: You'd have to use a Land Raider Crusader to fit that many models into the inquisitorial transport, but psybolt ammo and frag assault launchers probably makes that the best choice, anyway.

Doesn't quite provide for the Thunderhammer fix, but it certainly provides the Chapter Master. Could also include a MotF and roll IH tactics to keep that LR going.

Can the MotF fix the Inquisition LR?

Why doesn't it provide for the Thunderhammer fix? I'm pretty sure that Chapter Masters can take Thunderhammers. Also, remember that IH tactics won't apply to vehicles from allied detachments.

As for the Master of the Forge, Blessing of the Omnissiah refers to "any friendly vehicle that he is in base contact or embarked upon." While you wouldn't be able to embark in the Inquisitorial Land Raider, you would be able to repair it if you were in base contact.

I wouldn't bother, though. I'm more concerned about it getting blown up outright than having hull points chiseled off.

Master of forge can only repair vehicles in his own detachment. It's been faq'd.

Jamo: The space marine FAQ contains only two pieces of errata, presently. Neither refers to the Master of the Forge. Are you talking about a previous FAQ, or one for a different army?

Not that that wouldn't be good precedent, of course.

Coro, I mean it wouldn't hit up a squad's worth of Thunderhammers.

I have to agree with Thariinye on this one. Even though this was an obvious oversight on the part of GW, the fact that there is no explicitly stated note on when to apply the modifier means it reverts to game rule standards. Remember that ATSKNF wasn't FAQ'd for Black Templars until 6th edition came out even though it had changed on all the other codices. It has always been GW's position that rules in each codex apply to that codex unless FAQ'd.

I'm certainly willing to listen to that argument. It might be interesting to put up a poll on YMDC and see what people think about it.

If you didn't want rad grenades, you could always take a OM inq in TDA and deep strike the assualt termies. Of course, now you have to hope that they survive the barrage of incoming fire for a turn before you assault, but it might work better than a tag team of LRs, certainly cheaper.

There's an idea. But with the RAW swinging towards Str9 hammers vs Str10, I'm less inclined to put forth the effort. 10 is a threshold, 9 is a midway.

Not a bad idea. I agree that it SHOULD be as it is in the GK Codex; unfortunately it's just not in the Inquisitor 'dex, but would like to see what the consensus is in the community...

@ Corollax. It's in the brb FAQ. Page 9, first column, down near the bottom. It doesn't say mof specifically but still refers to repairing vehicles.

It says friendly vehicles. All the Omnissah entries have been errated to reflect this change.

So...actually, now I'm confused. Does it work or doesn't it?
