Hey guys,

So I thought I would start a blog about my painting adventure. I'm a very new to Warhammer and have decided to first start off with a Grey Knights army- I really like their color scheme and their models just look outright amazing. Just a bit of background before I kick start this off - I have very limited painting skills. I've only ever painted 2 models, one was an Ultramarine and one was half a Raven Guard. I botched both of them up and wasn't quite happy with the outcome but I think with these Knights I'm on the right track. I have a very basic set of paints and I've been watching a lot of online tutorials to help me improve as a painter and hobbyist.

So here is the beginning of my Ashen Knights.

I've started on a pair of legs as below. As you can see I've done a little bit of shading and highlighting. I AM STRUGGLING WITH THE PARCHMENT!

I'll be updating this in a few days with hopefully a torso and head.

I have very few hours to paint within, such a busy lifestyle and schedule it's hard to find good painting time!

Please give me CC as I go, it's the only way I can improve.

I regrettably inform you that I can't see the picture, but I wish you luck in your project.

If you're highlighting and shading on your first attempt, you're a lot better than I was when I started out!

With the parchment, I usually just stick to Bleached Bone, and then a wash of either Devlan Mud or Gryphon Sepia, depending on how dark I want it to be, and that generally looks alright. Ps sorry for not knowing the new names of the paints, I'm sure someone here can tell you, and there are 'conversion charts' on the internet.

Even better, soon you'll have a full squad and they are so much more rewarding when you see a full painted squad.

Looking really nice so far, looking forward to a him being fully painted and based.im really loving the attention to detail like the power cords on inside of his hood and the back of it. really add some much need colours to the grey knights,

with the parchments, i personally like it as it is, but you could also keep it blocked colours with an edge highlight and concentrate the shading in areas like the parting in the centre of the book or the folds of the ribbon, or perhaps go subtler on the shade in the centre of large flat areas.

Massively look forward to seeing more progress however.

Just a bit of an update to this as I'm working on the new nemisis weapons.

It's not complete yet but I've just primed and based the whole lot of them and this was my outcome- please note that it's no finished but this is the idea anyway. I still need to clean it up and also do a hard, crisp white edge highlight. The handle and hilt is also untouched and will be painted soon. The blade looks pink in this but it's actually pruple and the tip of black, I think the flash made it look a little too pink than what it actually is!

Thanks!
