What unreleased Heresy Legion will you seriously think about starting?
Dark Angels
Iron Warriors
Blood Angels
White Scars
Luna Wolves/ Sons of Horus (when Horus gets released)
Space Wolves
Salamanders (no models or anything yet!)
Imperial Fists
Ultramarines
Thousand Sons
Night Lords (just doors and shoulder pads right now)
Raven Guard
Alpha Legion
Death Guard (when Mortarian (?) gets released)
Word Bearers (when Lorgar (?) gets released)
Only if they release some must have 'other stuff' (vehicles, characters, etc...)
I'll pass regardless of releases!

So I had an interesting realization this morning when I was thinking about the Horus Heresy and the 30K era that FW is flushing out in general. Namely I looked at the cost of the units and of a sizeable army, and while no different than any other FW specific army, just seems so expensive to me, possibly since we've had cheap plastic Space Marines for as long as I've been playing.

In fact, here is a Pre-Heresy Deathguard army for sale in our very own forums! (not mine, in case you're wondering!)
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/564161.page

That's a lot of money for an army, but arguably worth it if you like the Death Guard. Some beautiful models, and you're sure to have a pretty unique force, which is a big part of the goal for any FW purchase IMHO.

Which brings me to my point: What legions will give you a SERIOUS self-control issue when it is released? Let's assume that it will be a fantastic release and will be just as good as the others have been so far. Give it a vote and let us know why. I think I covered all of the legions and I intentionally left off the ones that already have some cool stuff AND their Primarch model. If I made a mistake, I apologize in advance!

My choice is going to have to go to Thousand Suns. I love the heavy Egyptian theme of the force, plus Legion sorcerers are just fun to think about! Can't wait to see what the red Cyclops looks like when he gets his model!

A close runner up is going to have to go to Ultramarines though! I've always like the heavy Roman feel of the Utramarines, and I CANNOT wait to pick up the Guillman sculpt the moment it is released! I hope it's here before Adepticon! (It won't be!)

I'm not sure I'd necessarily run them as a Heresy era force, but I would love to get my hands on Legionaire Space Wolves. Brilliant conversion fodder, if nothing else. I'm a huge fan of the Heresy style anyway.

Blood Angels for sure. By far my favorite Space marine, legion and chapter (with the angels encarmine successor taking a close second, then probably Raven Guard and Night Lords) if the Sanguinius official model is at least pretty awesome, like the others have been and doesn't make him just look like a pretty boy with wings, I will buy it immediately, spend a year in monastic painting solitude learning the art and then paint it as beautifully as I possibly can and never touch it again, just stare at the beautiful primarch and post pictures all over the internet.

I would also be very much happy with the rest of the Horus Heresy era Blood Angels stuff if it went as well as you described.

Even if I never end up building a 30k army, I am for sure going to get Lion El'Jonson to use in Apoc games with my Dark Angels.

Raven Guard will be tempting, but even then there are always more IG tanks to buy.

Yeah, I'm thinking of picking up a tactical squad to practice the yellow on, and if that goes well I may pick up some Heresy armor to make some allies for my Ultramarines.

I'm pretty surprised that Alpha Legion is winning. I guess I just don't know that much about them. People should post why they're choosing them!

I voted Alpha legion precisely because no one knows much about them. They're a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in awesomeness.

They use deception and misdirection instead of brute force, they deal with human operatives as equals (or at least it looks that way) and they're deliberately totally unorthodox in their methods (and equipment?)

All of that makes for a host of tantalising modelling and unit opportunities that are different from any other Astartes legion.

Dark Angels. Play them now, first army, and I like them, a lot.

Plus, their Heresy colors are awesome, and I am sure the Lion El'Jonson model will look great! I may not build a whole army, but I will definitely want to get Lion and maybe a retinue to use in Apoc / for fun against my friend's Angron and my other friend's Leman Russ (old model).

Second to that, probably Imperial Fists. Dorn is a bad mutha.

Personally... none of them. Just too expensive, especially considering how much I've already put into regular 40k anyway and no one locally plays HH armies.

If money was no object though, I'd probably go with Imperial Fists even with my mild dislike for yellow models.

If they ever make a functional AdMech army, I'd probably go for it. Currently, it is poo.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Hard to say. I'm expanding my Red Scorpions as a legion army (I like to think of them as descended from loyalist Emperor's Children, what with all the pride in their colors and dedication to being perfect codex followers). If I had to do it all over again, probably would go full loyalist Emperor's Children, although Ultramarines are tempting.

I'm really hoping that they release Imperial Army rules to go with it. One of the things that's really unique about this period is that the legions carried around IA with them that were assigned to them. It would be a very neat addition. Forgeworld loves making guard kit as well, so having some Imperial Army resin would be fantastic.

I'd love to see some miscellaneous alien forces as well, but I don't think that will actually happen.
