So, this happened and I confused myself looking at the rules for the trample by overthinking it.
So you declare your trample, you move throught he models that you contact that are small bases, and at the end you need to have enough space left over to place the model.
My question is, if you're trampling through small models, and at the end of the Trample there is a small based model who will end up behind you, but you passed through and you are slightly on their edge, does that count as not being able to place the model? Would you just move through then use the least movement rule to place the small base a little off since you hit it and passed through?
Would/could you instead stop the trample right before that model, still getting the hit on it?

In a friendly game you might be able to talk your friend into that little extra movement. By rule you must be able to place your model without contacting anything but the table/game board.

So, in this case I would have to re-target or abandon the Trample?

No as per the rules you can't place the trampling model, least disturbance does not come into it as per the trample rule you must have enough room to place the base at the end of the trample.
No you would not get the hit if you do not travel over the model. This is not quite as per the rulebook but the details are contained in the latest pp errata. Automatically Appended Next Post: If you can't legally be placed then you revert back along the trample line until the model is in a legal placement.

Yep. If you can't place the model freely, you just move him back along the line you chose (you can't choose a new direction) until he can be placed, even if this is back at his original position (in which case, he's trampled 0"). Preventing "landing spots" is one of the ways to try and prevent tramples into your lines.
