I like to use magnetic storage for my models. A big ol' box with metal sides that base-mounted magnets can stick to. I was wondering if it made sense to do so with landspeeder bases. I have the tools to cleanly get the magnets into the underside of the base and I figured I'd flock the actual base to hide things.
But my question is the stem itself. Is it a bad idea to directly glue the speeder to the stem and the stem to the base? Like, am I going to constantly be snapping the stupid thing off? I feel pretty good about the whole assembly fitting in my storage box just fine. Just a little concerned about the stability of the stem.
Also - should I use super glue here or does regular plastic cement actually bond the relatively hard clear plastic of the base and stem?
Thanks!

I magnetize mine, as yes, they do snap off, and I also find it easier for storage.
Some players just drill a bigger hole, and put the stem in there after the tip breaks off.
Plastic glue will work (but it will break off...the plastic usually fails not the glue).

I just used to enlarge the hole so that the post sat inside the model a little deeper (5mm or so). The stands remained removable for transport to and from venues.
I know other people who put magnets in their models and on the stands and just attached them that way. Back2base-ix magnetic flight stands work well, too.

Just clip off the tiny little peg at the top of the stand. Use a hobby knife to widen the hole significantly and then you'll be able to shove the thick part of the flight stand up into the model. It wedges into place and doesn't budge during a game, but is removable for easy storage and never breaks. Perfect solution and I use it on all my skimmers.
