Hey guys, had a great experience beating some friendly gamesmanship into a clear WAAC player known as Frisbee King at our LGS last night.

For those who don't know, two games ago when I defeated Frisbee King, you could tell he was visibly shaken from the experience, even though we chatted afterwards he just couldn't believe his Typhus model, that he's modeled Typhus standing on top of his weapon as if he were riding a frisbee, had lost in CC to Swarmlord. He kept insisting the rules for Swarmlord must be dated and there is no one in the 40k universe that should be able to stand up to Typhus.

Regardless I wasn't too worried about it until later on when I left the store and found this.

Someone had vandalized my vehicle in the parking lot. Very upsetting, days later while I was cleaning the small shards of glass inside the vehicle, I found this under the seat.

Obviously I didn't have any proof, but my mind still wanders back to that day. I know the King had done this, and now my sole purpose on every other Thursday (Or Sunday) (Or whenever throatbanger (another player) lets us come over) is to beat Frisbee King in battle!!!

Regardless, onto the game.

MY LIST....

Flyrant. With Hive Commander and Twin Linked Devourers ----Warp Speed and Endurance------
Warrior Prime, Lash and Bone sword.

Doom in a pod -----Warp Speed-----

Tervigon-----Iron Arm, WS, Endurance----
2xgribblies

Trygon Prime x 3
That's 1500 on the nose.

Frisbee King List

2 Hell Turkeys (I Know)
Chaos Lord (with his Chosen)
Chosen with AP3 Spam
2 sets of cultists (one CC one Shooty)
2 sets of Marines, all with Nurgle and AP3 as much as possible. 1 Squad in a Rhino
1 set of Havocs with 4xautocannon
ADL w/Quad

We roll for side and deployment and yet again, we roll the long map. My army's goal is to all come in turn 2, so regardless it isn't a big deal as everything is DS basically. However on the long table setup, Frisbee King is able to group all his heavy firepower together. No matter where I try and destroy, he's going to be able to bring the full force of his AP3 SPAM to bare against my monsters!

On top of all that he rolls a 5 on his strategy warlord trait turning my 2+ on reserves into a 3+
My idea is simple enough, destroy all his scoring units while leaving my Tervigon at home to control my objectives and win the game.

We roll off and I go first, night fighting is in effect, King decides not to try and steal.

Turn 1 is a wash, I'm waiting for turn 2 and with night fighting Frisbee King has 0 shots on the long board.

Turn 2, lets party!
Trygon Prime 1 - In --- Trygon Prim 2 -----IN!----- Trygon Prime 3----IN!!!!----- DOOM ---- IN!!!!-----

BEFORE

AFTER

Notice the unit of Chosen standing on the battlements, there is no way my Trygons can get to them, so they are gonna be a big problem :( Immune to Monsters up there is idiotic. Also notice the Oblit on the other battlement across the field. At least my Flyrant can deal with him (I hope)

Man it doesn't get much better then that, I need 3+'s and rolled them like a champion. Now I have 18 T6 wounds and Doom with his 3++ all surrounding the enemy. I'll need some luck but hopefully I can do some damage with 36 STR 5 shots from the Primes and My Flyrant who has flown forward to take shots at the oblit thats hanging forward.

My shooting is UNDERWHELMING to say the least, I only manage to knock down 1 chosen and can only manage 1 wound on the Oblit :@ Doom's pulse does an astounding 2 wounds

Frisbee King turns the brunt of his army on me. He gets both his Hell Turkeys and his two blobs of cultists from reserves. This is gonna hurt.

When the dust settles, he's done 5 wounds to one Trygon Prime, 1 wound to another and KILLED last Trygon , while not being able to take out Doom. 2 monsters up for my turn along with a Flyrant at full wounds! This is looking grim. He was able to do a ton of wounds with his AP3 spam of hell turkeys and plasma, along with the weight of fire that comes out from behind that ADL, I really needed to do more damage with my shooting.

TURN 3

Okay its about destroying anything that can score. Doom moves forward so he can pulse two groups again, and since I left him with Warp Speed I plan to get him into assault with the marines.

Let the carnage begin!

Dooms pulse actually does huge damage leaving only one Chaos Marine with the auto cannon alive. He's gonna be my target for the Trygon with only one wound left. Hopefully the over watch won't pay off.

He rolls one and does one wound, which I roll a to save.

Doom makes combat with the marine squad and with accepts a challenge. He would actually remain locked down while pulsing right up until my turn 5!

The Flyrant makes contact and demolishes the oblit!

Things aren't great but my final Trygon is dealing with the two blob squads that came in, and if he can nom nom nom them all and Doom and Flyrant can handle the other flank I should have the game in the bank as Frisbee King will have no scoring units.

Frisbee King uses his turn 3 to take a couple pot shots at the Flyrant with his chosen, but does no damage. He also sends his drakes to flame my backfield scoring :(

BEFORE

AFTER

I do have a unit inside the battlements that can hop out on turn 5 and score, providing they don't lurk.

Those drakes also do 3 wounds with Vectorstrike to my T8 Tervigon :@ Seriously W T F WAAC

I don't have a picture but these guys

hop out and murk my Warrior Prime, who was a waste of points as he did nothing.

GAME CHANGER
My Trygon prime decimates another 5 cultists up top. This is 100% PERFECT! Now my Trygon Prime will win combat, sweep these little buggers and re-assault during my phase, right?

He rolls a double 1 and stay in combat with 3 cultists left. This is horrible, I know I've lost now.

TURN 4

Okay
The plan is simple, I'll let Doom finish off his scoring unit that he's slowly eating, my Flyrant will hop down and smash the marines that just got out of the vehicle, then he'll consolidate out of range and sight of the Chosen. Last turn he'll fly over and finish the cultists himself if need be. I'll send my Tervigon back to poop out some more scoring units and secure my objective just to be sure.

Begin the plan, the Flyrant casts WS on himself to ensure his victory, right,

WRONG, :(

He perils and blows off one of his own wings. No matter, he's got 3 wounds left and should easily with DAKKA fire and his bad assness wipe out 6 marines, Right? I mean, RIGHT?

GAME CHANGER

I do 10 wounds, and Frisbee King saves 8 I then charge, over watch does 2 wounds seriously, W T F.... In combat I challenge the Sargent, I'm going first needing 3's to hit. I roll 1-2-1-5
1 Hit.
2's to wound, re rollin
and
How is this possible!!!!!!

And finally

Flyrant gone. Power Fisted into death.

Worse my Trygon Prime finishes off the cultists and has no choice but to await his certain death

In his turn 4 Frisbee King sends his drakes into hover mode, he wants to make sure I can't get my objectives. He goes into fast skimmer mode and comes around to flame my now T8 Tervigon. Finally some old fashion luck, he does 0 wounds.

He also unloads his chosen on my Trygon prime and with all that AP3 Spam finishes off the Monster easily

Now only Doom and his pod remain, and the squad that just killed Flyrant blows my pod sky high!

Turn 5, things are bleak as can be, but I'll try and make a game of it.

His Hell Turkeys took a chance, I hope to make them pay. I poop out 10 gribblies, (I just put 5 down for show) and prepare to try and take out the two WAAC models.

After getting into assault my opponent lets me know that because he moved his fast skimmers I need to roll 's to hit.........I don't know if that is even RAW but he explained the Hell Turkeys move so fast and burn so hot that I need to roll 6's to hit them in CC.

At that point I concede the match.

He has Line Breaker, Warlord and wins both missions.

9-1

Crushing Chaos Hell Turkey WAAC VICTORY!!!!

I have to say, my dice turned colder then I've ever had happen before and Frisbee King made me pay for it.

After the game we stopped off at the bar and had a couple shots, but I'll have my revenge, in this life or the next.

He played so many of those rules incorrectly. Sorry about that game, bud. You had it in the bag barring cheating and dice.

I don't think you understand what WAAC means.

But thanks for posting an entertaining report!

Some things to keep in mind for future games:

-> Focus on the objectives
-> Protect your troops
-> Kill the things that threaten your troops

I feel like you just expected your opponent who was fielding 2 of the the best troop killers in the game, to just ignore your objectives while you threw all of your "hard to kill" stuff in his face. I believe this guy played you like a cheap fiddle. Your flyrant could have vector striked the heldrakes and shot at them, they were your biggest threats. Instead you went all gung ho after an oblit...thats my initial thoughts anyway.

I think Mawlocs would be better in your list than Trygon Primes. Could probably squeeze another flyrant in if you swapped for 3 Mawlocs and dropped the warrior prime.

Assuming he had double Devs, (although the list is pretty vague, so I could be wrong), why would he Vector strike?

The Heldrakes were in a line, he could have vector striked 1 and shot the other, potentially crippling both. Or he could have shot 1 to death. Regardless my point stands, why didn't the flyrant deal with the drakes, I can't see a way for the list to win once the drakes go down.

Thanks for all the advice. I really do take note of what you say.

Honestly, had my Trygon Prime won combat during his turn 3 rather then my turn 4 I'd have won the game, the hell turkeys wiped out 1 squad of gribbles and did 3 wounds to a trygon prime and 3 wounds to a tervigon, they didn't actually win him the game. This game was won and lost with dice, as it should be. I lost 3 wounds on a Flyrant to over watch from 4 marines and a perils. Then failed to do 1 would when I need 3's to hit and 2's to wound with re rolls.

The warrior Prime was garbage, no idea why I threw him in, but Mawlocs are not really designed for what I used the Trygons for.

I also don't consider him WAAC, I just know he reads here

Frisbee King here guys, just had to point out that fast skimmer thing. Never had my hell turkeys charged before and wasn't sure on the rules so to save time we asked the store manager (which storm breed conveniently left out), and he told us the whole 6+ thing to hit. We now know that was wrong so will play it correctly next time.

Ohh! Before I forget, did storm breed mention tactic wise, he allowed me to bale flame a trygon, doom, and a pod with one shot and then 2 trygons again cause he failed to spread out properly?

I should have known you would show up here.

In my defence I was DS in all three of those models and rolled a hit on each, I couldn't risk being too close to the table edge so I had to kinda throw down the gauntlet. Which Frisbee King promptly accepted and smashed me.

This time.

Sunday. Rematch. I win you replace my rear windshield. (Yes I still have plastic instead of a windshield) you win I'll leave our LGS Forever.

Why not drop the Warrior Prime and make the 3 trygons normal, non-primes? You'd have 215 points to mess with, and that could be huge.

Plus, rage on trygons is handy, when it happens. Their extra shooting is just not worth 40 points to me.

If it makes you feel any better, I killed typhus with a smash attack from a riptide .

Anyway, nids struggle against helldrake and many things in general IMO-but since a new dex is runored to be out next month nids as we all know it will change and hopefully for the better!

I'm really looking forward to how warriors will change and perhaps nids will get some solid AA.

Sometimes, sarcasm is lost to those on the net who don't know you and your opponent.

In any case, it's just a game. As the joker would say, why so serious?

That's the best part about 'Rage' these days. The 6th edition rule is ...superior... to the 5th.

I don't understand how this is a "WAAC" player. His list is pretty mediocre besides 2 Heldrakes, which really aren't that bad. Currently Tyranids are better than CSM.

I like to spice up the reports a bit more then the normal ones, and I enjoy normal reports as well.

As for the rules we didn't know one rule off the top of our head so we asked the GW employee and he told us. (Wrongly)

Any time you'd like to post all the battle reports you've posted yourself which are better, I'd be glad to see how you format yours and compare, I enjoy taking the time to upload all the pictures and try make sure the real emotions of the game turning back and forth come through

Thanks for the feedback.

More time spent on the rule book never hurts, specifically flyer rules.

I can assure you I'm not Frisbee King

I did enjoy beating him last night in our rematch, I'm sure he'll claim it is because we did a 2v2 Planet Strike game however.

Greatest moment was Abaddon vs Swarmlord, Swarmlord about to kill Abby and then 5 cultists rush in to give "moral support" Abby re-rolls his failed INV save and then kills the Swarmlord :(
