I was asked to start a novice league on Tuesday nights at my FLGS since I have already taught many people in the store individually. I have never ran a Warmachine novice league before and was wondering if you guys have any ideas to keep people interested.

I was going to start out at 15 points (battlebox sets plus any solo or attachment that will bring a person up to 15 points). If they don't have 15 points to start I have enough mercs to bring anyone up to 15. All the missions for the first several games will be strictly caster kill. If enough people are getting the hang of the game then start introducing more points and missions.

I know what worked for me when I was learning how to play Zerkova was that I learned how each unit played on its own without a caster backing them up. I was wondering if I should try to teach that way. Tell people that while your caster is important that they need to learn their units/jacks/beasts how they play on their own with little or no caster assit.

So what is your ideas? Thank you.

Ask your FLGS to get in a Journeyman League kit.

I find that working to get all the patches helps keep people motivated.

Also, have you considered running a Journeyman instead of starting from scratch regarding league rules? Week two is essentially where you want to start anyway.
