I have heard that most of the 6th edition codexes have noticeable point drops over 5th edition codexes. I am trying to get a feel for what to expect when the armies I collect get updated. But I need more data to make a good guess.
I was wondering:
What 6th edition Codex armies you have?
How many points did you typically run in your army in a 5th edition game?
How many points did your typical 5th edition army build drop in with the new codex?
Thanks for posting! Just for good measure I till throw poll in so you lurkers out there can contribute too

My standard tournament list wound up being roughly the same. (I think it saved like, 15 points.) I play Salamanders.

Do Adepta Soroitas count even if it wasn't really that new.
My 1500 list dropped by about 50 points, most of that was immolators getting free multi-melta upgrades and exorcists dropping in points. Everything else was almost identical.

I ran a bike and vehicle focused marine list with C:SM. The big discounts on bikes, tacticals and scouts saved lots of points.
For my CSM, since I only used icons for deep strike, and all the other point reduction on things aside from cult marines, lots of points saved here.
My tau simply took out two hammerheads, and added two riptides. It was seamless.
Points were saved.

Depressing :(
My Deathwing stayed more or less a same I guess. Deathwing itself is considerably more expensive in the new book, but adding supporting units (Ravenwing, green marines) is slightly less costly.

BT was rolled into SMurfs, i thought?
My Orks are a 4th ed codex, so can't really answer on that, especially since they won't be getting another update until 7th at this rate... Rumors may say new ork codex on the horizon, but they've been saying that for years.
My DE just got updated a year or two ago, so another 12 years for them.
My daemons got cheaper for 6th, but lost a bunch of the stuff that made them worth being expensive. I can still run a fully tanked up spendy but tiny daemons list if i want to spend an hour rolling everything up, though.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Black Templars have been updated, its in the Space Marine book. Your army should be a bit cheaper with a bunch of new toys.

He knows, what he's hinting at is the fact that the army doesn't work anything at all like it used to.
Which is why I can't answer the question: my army changed enough that I had to start from scratch designing lists. My old lists were no longer legal.

My 5th edition Eldar army actually went up in points by quite a bit, but I'm not complaining.

My Eldar army got completely revamped with the new codex. As such a comparable army is about 250 points more in 6th.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

Hmmm, seems to be all over the map. I guess it depends on the army. In general do the people with 6th edition codexes feel like they can field larger armies then in 5th?
